Hi all, brand new to this site. Am I crazy to think I can plan a wedding in eight months? I've always assumed we would take a year to plan our wedding, but my now fiance just proposed on Christmas and neither of us want to get married in the winter, nor do we want to wait until Spring 2018. In trying to pick a date when the weather should still be warm, we're looking at September. We are both completely new to this and have not done any research prior to this week. I do already have a venue in mind that only has one September date left, which is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend (Sept 2nd). Am I crazy to think we can pull this off? I'm also concerned about the holiday weekend, although on the plus side for those friends and relatives who will have to travel from out of state, it's a 3-day weekend so they won't have to worry about racing to get back to work on Monday. We kind of just want to pull the trigger and book the venue, but I'm freaking out about the short time frame.

Our engagement was 9 months and a week. We had a very small destination wedding though!

OP, you can do it. Depending on where you're located, October may not be that much colder than September. I know it isn't in NC. Those are pretty popular wedding months though. I had planned on marrying in the Fall but had to push back to the next Spring due to weather issues. Good luck! And happy planning!

You can do it!! Personally, I LOVED my two-year engagement because I'm so not a planner and enjoyed being able to do it piece by piece (plus I was a grad student so money was tight). If you like planning and have the money, do whatever is best for you! That means booking vendors and dress shopping ASAP Smiley smile

I say go for it! We got engaged in September and are getting married in May! We only have 8 months too and it starting to think it's the perfect amount of time. I'm not stressed right now and we got a lot of the big stuff done as soon as we got engaged! We are also having our Memorial Day weekend, and I think it will be perfect timing! Don't stress, you got this! It's definitely feasible!

8 months is plenty of time! We did less than 6 months and have had everything done for awhile. Just don't plan to do a lot of diy!

I planned my wedding in about 4.5 months. It was totally doable. I immediately hired a wedding coordinator after booking a venue and locking in the date. That same week we booked a photographer. Everything else just fell into place. I bought a wedding dress off the rack and immediately worked on getting it altered. There were several weeks that were extremely busy, where we had several wedding related appointments in a week, but we survived!!!! Everything ended up beautiful and perfect. We got everything we wanted. It just took a lot of dedication and organization and an amazing coordinator.
