Places to get my ring resized? Where did you get yours done?

Madelayna, on April 4, 2017 at 12:33 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

We got my engagement ring and wedding band at Kay Jewelers and I heard many bad things about sending your ring in to get it resized and I refuse to do it...so I was wondering if anyone took theirs to Jareds, Shane Co., or a family jeweler? Where did you take yours? I really want to just go in and have them resize it the same day no matter how long it takes. Any suggestions will be most appreciated Smiley smile

My ring was purchased from Jareds and I get free sizing there. The first time I went to resize it, they did it same day. Another time I went to resize it at a different location and it took one day. They tried to tell me about a month before that , that it would take 2 weeks so I said I would come back later and I did. It depends on how busy they are. Busier times are holidays like Christmas and Valentine's Day.

My ring was purchased and resized at jareds. It did take 4 days to be resized simply because they were busy. They had a repair center in store basically on display, which is why I was comfortable with them doing it. If they had had to send my ring out, no way.

Jareds is basically the same company as Kay. They're owned by the same parent company I believe. Same thing with Zales.

I would recommend going to a local family jeweler to get your ring resized. Call around and see how many do resizing in house.

Mine was purchased from Shane Co so I got it sized there. I don't know how much they charge if you didn't purchase your ring there, but I prefer them to the other big chain jewelry stores because they are family owned. I wouldn't give Kay, Jared, or Zales a dime.

ETA Shane Co did mine in house and it took a day

My ring was purchased at Jared, and I have to get work done through them to keep my warranty. I just took my band in to have it sized since the wedding is Friday and it wasn't busy so they were able to do it on the spot and it took less than 10 minutes. I don't know how much it costs though because I get it free.

ETA: they have their repair/resize area with windows where you can see in and watch them. So I was able to see the whole process too.

DH went through a local jeweler to redesign the ring he had before he proposed so we have had all the work I've needed on my ring since then done at that same jeweler (resizing, redipping, cleaning, tightening stones). While I've gotten my ring back the same day when I've taken it in to be redipped or to have a loose stone checked, each time I've needed to have it resized, it has taken 4-7 days.

I hate Jared and Kays. Take it to a local jeweler, they are truly experts and will take good care of you, no matter how busy they are. Your jeweler should make you feel like you are the most important person in the room.... because you kind of are....

Any local jeweler will resize and do repairs on a ring that was not purchased there.

Before doing anything I would just double check with your warranty. I would hate for something to happen to your ring and then Kays refuse to cover it!

A local family jeweler in your area. They will do it in shop and not not have to send it out.

I got my ering from Kay's, had horrible experiences on multiple occasions, got my wedding band from Shane co and they offered to take care of my ering as well. Best customer service and a very reputable company. I really love them!

Both of my rings are from Kay's. I have had great experience and my ring was sent out twice. Once for resizing then to be reshanked (the bands were too thin). My ring cane back to me within the time they promised and my diamonds were not touched.
