Pizza!

How many pizzas do you think we need/how many guests for a late night snack?

Dinner will be served at 6:30pm & the reception ends at 10:30pm. We will no doubt have left over cake from dessert also & that will be placed out. 93 guests attending; but I read you do not plan for all of the guests to stay & to only plan on serving a late night snack to 50% of the guests; but that doesn't seem right?!? Your thoughts...

As far as I know when I reception, the reception ends, unless you're moving the party, you make your guests way out.. I work in the food industry and I would be super pissed if people stayed late after the reception was supposed to end. Your vendors want to go home too, move the party somewhere else. It also depends on your venue, our serves the food so there's no way they're letting outside food come in.

It's quite common to have a late night snack, anchoredbythec? It's part of the reception though.

Ambrok, that would be a "know your crowd" situation surely. I've never seen a guideline about it though.

I could see having less guests stick around if the reception was til midnight; but with ours ending at 10:30/'late' night snack being set out for 9:30...I would expect more than 50% of the guests to still be there.

@anchordbythec...the pizzas will be provided by the venuw itself & we will be leaving the venue on time. IF we feel like hanging out afterwards, we'd announce to the guests before the last song of the night to meet us at the hotel bar.

I would say plan half the guests and plan 2 pieces per guest. Most people may not eat any and some may eat more

We are doing this. Having 170 guests and thinking that only bridal party and close friends will stay, and not all of them. Only getting 20 pizzas. Also bringing leftover containers so guests can take all the extra food home, so we can eat that as well. Basically planning on people being stuff and this just helping with the late night boozers.

Our reception ends at 11 and we have 5 pizzas coming at 10. We have about 100 guests but I'm sure there would be some guests that leave early.

I would probably set it out at 9:30. That is still pretty close to dinner so I think 1 piece per person is reasonable. I would also see if the venue can cut the pizzas into squares rather than full slices. I would do one piece of pizza per person who attended, so 93. This would allow some people to have two as some guests will be gone and some won't want a snack 3 hrs after dinner. To find out how many pizzas, find out how many pieces are included in each pie then do the math.
