Pizza Reception!

Mackenzie, on July 25, 2023 at 10:15 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Has anyone had a wedding reception where they served pizza for dinner instead of a traditional dinner? If you have does anyone recommend venues or caterers that can help make this dream a possibility?! We don't mind if it’s untraditional or casual but we want to through a pizza reception and stay in budget! We will have about 130 guests. Thanks!

Pizza sounds great! We were actually planning to do it for the rehearsal dinner getting my cousin-in-law's pizza place to cater. Depending on your budget and whether or not you are feeling fancy, I'd totally recommend you see if you can get a local pizzeria to cater your wedding. Obviously call ahead of time.

The hardest part of a pizza reception is trying to keep that much pizza warm. I d speak with your venue and local pizza places to see what solution you can come up. If it’s an all inclusive venue they may not allow outside food. If you can’t do it for the reception maybe u can have a pizza rehearsal dinner which tend to be smaller. Best of luck!

Oh yes, that too, at a lot of pizza buffets I go to they usually have heat lamps to keep the pizza warm so see if your venue or caterers have something like that to use or at least some of those cases that delivery drivers use.

You'll need to have equipment for keeping the hot food warm. I'd add a couple of salads too though, for those that don't eat pizza. I would check with your venue that it's OK to serve outside food. Many venues shy away from that for liability reasons.

I think pizza can work but I'd keep allergies in mind. In our circle, we have multiple people with celiac disease and even more people with a dairy allergy. If those are issues some of your guests face, you may want to offer an alternative option or a gluten/dairy free pizza.

I think pizza is fine just present it nice, find a way to keep it warm, have maybe a couple sides, lots of different options of pizza, & i saw someone else mention allergy’s i would definitely make sure everyone can eat

Keeping all that pizza warm is the only problem. I haven't seen pizza served at a wedding as the main meal, but I have seen it as the late night buffet where it was purposely room temperature like hangover food.

I would make sure your venue allows outside food that isn't on a preferred vendors list. Truthfully as soon as a venue says that you have to go through their list of "preferred vendors" only i literally never speak to them again. If you're able to bring in food from any restaurant I figure out if you can source enough heat lamps to keep it hot while that many people go through the line. You cam also make/buy some sides like salads to go with it.
