Pizza - Meal for my reception

I want to preface this with a simple request. I say this with all the love in my heart and do not want to come off catty. Do not come at me with your reason about why pizza is too casual, not correct, not special enough (how dare you), [insert reason why you think it's just tacky here]. Let's...

I want to preface this with a simple request. I say this with all the love in my heart and do not want to come off catty. Do not come at me with your reason about why pizza is too casual, not correct, not special enough (how dare you), [insert reason why you think it's just tacky here]. Let's pretend that we're in a world that its not weird to have pizza for our reception. I would love to hear your thoughts on how to make this happen logistically. I have a feeling this probably won't happen in my favor but I am reaching out to you beautiful people to help me think of a solution. That is not saying that there will be one, but please don't tell me your opinion of pizza + reception. To each their own, this isn't the forum for that.

I want to order pizza from a local pizza place here in Nashville. I have worked it out with the business as far as how much to order and how to get it to the venue. Hot bags will be lent to me for transport.

I wasn't sure if there were some sort of "pizza chafer" out there (that I can't seem to find).

I though of possibly getting pizza stones and using the can-o-heat under them.

I don't want to do a pizza food truck because of the ones I have checked here a) they can't keep up with demand and b) they are well over $20 per person. Not ideal in my budget.

My only other thought is to hold onto the hot bags until the end of the night. Not a pretty presentation though, I know.

I have back up options but if we can do this it would be amazing! My FH and I had our first date there and we go frequently. Amazing food and an amazing business I would love to support.

Bring it. Smiley heart

Hi Jayme! Did you ever work out the details with your rental company? I'd love to hear about how it went and what your plans are for your pizza catering! Smiley kiss P.S. I think having pizza at a wedding rocks, and I would not be mad about this at all!

We decided to do use heat lamps but they aren’t the typical restaurant type but ones that are cute/stylized. We are going to have pizza stones for the pizza to rest on. Our aim is to have the lights on to heat the stone up before placing pizza. We figure lamps would provide better heat dispersement than my original idea of can-o-heat under a stone.
Rental companies do have an option of a hot box that will keep the pizza warm. Our venue doesn’t have a kitchen so we’re making it work. We are determined to making it happen so I will have to report back in a year to let you know my success (I will not be defeated haha).

Hey Jayme - I am interested in how you ended up doing the pizza? We are having pizza for our wedding in September and I am wondering the same thing, how in the world will we keep this warm! Would love your thoughts!

Pizza sounds awesome! Make sure to stick to traditional toppings rather than gourmet as they tend to be polarizing. A dessert pizza if they have one might be cool too.

Have you talked to the restaurant where you are getting them? They may have suggestions on how to present and keep them warm. Find out if you can rent supplies from them or where to get them inexpensively.

Hey Jayne! How did this turn out? I’m planning to do this in September and a little lost, because I’d rather just order and not hassle with a food truck. Let us know how it went!
