PISSED - The salon messed up my nails...

GrayCatVintage, on September 16, 2014 at 5:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

So I went to the salon to have my nails painted because I have a job interview tomorrow. All I wanted was a nice neutral color painted on - that is it. Well, after I got there I was put with a new girl. I thought, okay, this is just nails. She had me in a chair for 2 hours and 15 minutes AND THEY WERE NOT DRY. She shaped my nails then put all this lotion stuff all over my hands and fingers then proceeded to put on a base coat, two color coats, and a top coat in rapid succession. I have never had my nails painted before so I thought this was normal...when she tried to usher me out I said "Sorry, but they are not dry". She then put me in a seat with a cold fan blowing on my hands for 45 minutes - they would not dry. I had to leave at that point. When I went to pick up my bag, the polished smeared everywhere and it's now on my good jeans. THEY DID NOT EVEN HAVE A SUPERVISOR THERE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. So I had to PAY, leave my name, and leave...Rant over.

I'd call and ask for the manager to call you back, get names etc. i've had this happen and i refused to pay, so they called the manager to come into the store. problem solved. the manager repainted my nails properly and gave me a gift card for the next manicure as well.

I'd be pissed too. Getting your nails done isn't the cheapest thing, so you want them do be done right. I'm with andixlyn- call and speak with a manager.

I will also add that I didn't recognize your avatar, so I totally thought this was a troll post! Hahaha. Then I saw your name and realized you were a real person and felt really bad.

I would be mad too! Being someone who took manicuring in school and is going back for cosmetology I know she did it wrong. The lotion is correct you are supposed to put that on and all the polishes of nail color are correct, but she should have know that she is supposed to remove the oil that the lotion leaves on your nail. She should have taken it off with polish remover or acetone so that the polish could dry other wise it will come off because it has nothing to cleave to because the surface is oily. I would call the manager and tell them about your problem and see what they could do to fix it

I NEVER had my nails "done" before...ever...So, what she was doing was pretty unfamiliar (the lotions/cuticle cream) but even I know if you have lotion on your hands that if you paint over it, the polish will come right off...

I am trying to get it out of my jeans now - it is also on my steering wheel. At first glance they looked like they might be dry - she put top coat on so it looked "slick" I guess. Well it was not until I got into the car that the mess began. I called the salon as soon as I got in and the manager was not there so I had to leave my name and number.

The nail tech put lotion on your nails and then tried painting over that... yeah, nail polish wont paint over an oily base, such as lotion. They needed to remove the lotion from your nails first. (I mean, c'mon nail tech). I would be pissed!!!! Definitely call, get the manager on the phone, whatever you need to do. I hate paying for things that you should NOT have to pay for.

I feel sad now that my nails look less than perfect for my job interview (I do yard work and my nails always look a little yellowish). I guess I can just put a clear coat on them here and hope no one notices.

That is sad Smiley sad I've only had my nails done once and it only took 30 minutes to dry (and even that I thought was forever!!!

That sucks! A good solution to this (for next time) is to get shellac colour. It's typically only like $5 more, and it dries instantly under those LED lights…literally no dry time. No smudges.

I was going to try the shellac/gel (never had that done either) but since I was put with the new girl she didn't know how to do it. I was/am just really upset. I know it is just nails but I really want this job I am interviewing for and I do not want the hiring manager to think down on me.
