Pinata at our reception

Winter Bride, on December 5, 2017 at 3:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

This Latina bride right here is bringing a pinata indoors for guests to break. Would you step up to hit it if you never have? DJ is introducing it.

I hope FH family will enjoy but most of all volunteer to swing at it before it breaks! It is filled with favors (alcohol and fancy chocolate and chapsticks, mints)

Too Kids birthday partyish for me and potentially dangerous with people who are drinking. Be safe.

I personally would, but I love piñatas. Never seen it done at a wedding but hey, if you want to have some heritage in your wedding, by all means.

Latina here. I think it's totally fun. I've seen adults at kids birthday parties go crazy over these things. Maybe have the dj coordinate it so it doesn't get out of hand.

Geez I didn't think there were many of us on here! Latina here too! My MIL made a piñata (can't even fathom how much time that would take!) for when we are able to get back to his country for our "friend-ception." I have zero (clinically) depth perception so I'd end up murdering a guest but it would be fun to watch!

I'd do it. But maybe do it early in the reception before people get drunk.

I think if you want to incorporate it, then go for it, just do it before the liquor is in full affect. My crowd would def get hurt doing this once the wedding has been going for a while.

My crowd would enjoy this, and so would I. I had a piñata for FH's 30th birthday party and it got quite a few laughs from our friends and family. Smiley laugh

I don't see it at a wedding, but it's your wedding. With my friends, blood would be spilled....

It sounds like it would be fun. I mean its definitely a know your crowd kinda thing, our families don't even dance so I doubt we could get them excited for a pinata. If your crowd would like it I'm sure it will make for some really fun pictures!

This is one of the latest wedding trends. Go for it! You're going to start seeing more of these at all kinds of weddings, not just us Latinos.

Keep in mind how you're going to hang it inside your venue. Safety wise secure a lanyard to your palo that loops around your wrist. This will keep it from flying out of your hands. Best wishes!

Sorry didn't clarify. Alcoholic chocolates and it is done at the very beginning. Great points about drunk ppl and having it early on the timeline. Makes a nice ice breaker. imo

I would be so scared so lady would dive in with her heels on and break an ankle or stab someone with their heel by accident.

We thought about doing a piñata but ultimately decided against it.

@alana Ha wow! Yea that's a great point. Would have to think of a creative way where guests wouldn't have to crawl on a hard floor like have the Pinata hover over some type of cushioned mat. Then again, our crowd might just be fine on a hard floor. Some of us go hard on my side.

Don't forget to use PLASTIC only booze bottles. I went to a wedding as a kid that did this and inside were little champagne bottles that got smashed. Oops. Good thing it was outdoors.

I'd probably be up to hit it with the right crowd. What I would suggest is enlisting (in advance!) maybe a friend and a family member to agree to step up and take some of the first swings. That guarantees the ball gets rolling, and opens it up to all your potential guests (id definitely join in at a friend's wedding. If it was a random cousin and only their friends were participating, I would feel awkward taking a turn)
