Pies!

The more flavors you have, the more slices you'll need per person since many people will want to try more than one flavor. I would account for 1.25-1.5 slices per guest. If the pies can be cut into 8 slices, that would be about 24-28 pies. I would probably offer a chocolate pie along with fruit options.

I would have at least 1 fruit and one cream/pudding. I would say 2-3 varieties, if you do three you can have the third be wither fruit or cream.

As for the wedding cake, keep it small. You can save just a piece if you don't want to pay for the whole tier.

Have you looked into mini pies? It might be cheaper and it'll be easier so nobody has to stand there and cut 30 pies.

Yes, we did consider doing it that way too! It would be easier to serve!
