Pictures on save the date

Lindsey, on February 9, 2022 at 7:35 AM Posted in Planning 5 8
Our wedding is in September and I feel like people are already making plans for the year. We are getting our engagement pics done in March and don’t have any good pictures of us together to go on a save the date card. Is it a must to have your picture on the save the date? Or can you send it with the invitation so that people will actually save the date? Looking forward to your answers!

You do not have to have a photo on your Save The Dates! When my fiance and I sent out our Save The Dates for our original date (we postponed due to COVID), we hadn't yet taken our engagement photos, so our Save The Dates were wooden magnets that looked similar to this (this is the stock photo from the seller, so those aren't our names/date, but the design was the same):

Photos don’t have to be included in the save the date or the invitation.

Photos are definitely not a must for save the dates! The only photos we sent were the wedding pictures included on our thank yous. Your wedding website is a great place to include your engagement photos to share them with guests Pictures on save the date 2

You will probably get your photos back in April and I would not wait to send your save the dates until then. You can put the photos on your website and also send a photo with the invitation. You'll probably send invitations in July so you'll have them by then.
We sent our save the dates through the website by email, and had just normal photos we liked. Then when we got engagement photos, I put them on the website.

If you want to follow old school tradition, the couple sends a picture with the invite. The save the date is a no cost phone call that is placed 6 months before the wedding. Because a photographer won’t be able to get pictures processed in the time frame needed to order save the date magnets/postcards which are only 5 years old as a trend, then skip the photos that would be sent in March or have a friend/relative take them ASAP on their/your phone and upload the picture to Canva or whatever service you use for the save the dates.

I had my FH’s sister take some pictures of us over the summer for our save the date. Our engagement shoot wasn’t until October and I used 2 of those photos on the actual invitation. If you know someone who has a nice camera, ask if they’ll take pictures. Photos are not required, it was just something I had wanted!
