Picture Frame Gift Photo Placeholder?

Ashley, on July 6, 2018 at 2:55 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14
So we're giving these beautiful picture frames to each set of parents at the rehearsal dinner. They're already engraved with a personal message.

So I'm looking for ideas and advice on what to put in the frame that explains we will be giving them a print of our wedding photo to put in the frame after the wedding.

I want to do something cute like a poem or something creative, but I just can't find any inspiration on what to do! Any ideas?

I want to add that we did not do an engagement shoot, and I wouldn't want to put a nice photo of us in it because knowing both sets of parents, they'll just leave that photo in it and buy a second frame for the wedding photo, which we don't want.

Use a blank card as a place holder!

Then maybe in a card to them you can explain its for one of your wedding pics after the big day!

You can even buy really pretty white card stock from Michael's that has glitter or designs on it to hold the place of the photo so its not just a plain piece of paper.

If it were me (I have a warped sense of humor), I'd take a photo of me and my fiancé with a fake prison outfit and ball and chain or something like him on the couch with a ripped undershirt, a beer and the remote and you in a housecoat with curlers and ready to hit him with a rolling pin, with a caption that says "Will replace with real wedding portrait soon. In the meantime, please enjoy this portrait of the happy couple." I wanted to do that with our thank you cards but my husband didn't think everyone would find it as funny as we did.

You could also keep the photo it came with and do a caption, "I don't know who these people are but please enjoy this random picture of a happy couple until we can replace it with our wedding portrait."

I don't think our parents would find the humor in it, but I think it's hilarious!

I'll keep this in mind. I'd really like to put some kind of poem on the paper in the frame though. I don't like the idea of just giving a frame with a blank paper in it.
But I didn't think of using the paper from Michael's to print the poem on! I'll definitely use that when I figure out what to write!

This is cheesy, but will perhaps get your creative juices flowing, but something simple like:

Thanks mom and dad for standing by our side

After our wedding we will fill this with a photo of us as groom and bride

    Or

Thank you for all your love and support in life

This is an IOU for a photo of us as man and wife (or woman and wife, don't want to assume your fiance is a man).

I think it's a super cute idea. We got our parents an album of photos and we just wrote that in a card we gave them. I think trying to incorporate something into the frame is a cute idea.

A picture is worth a thousand words

But here are a few for now.

We will give you a photo when it's time

    After we've said our vows.

Maybe just use nice scrapbook paper and write in gold pen cursive "IOU - Wedding Portrait to Follow!", or take a nice picture of you two holding a sign that says that, or else use one of your engagement pictures so it looks like a complete gift when giving it, then when getting your wedding photos back just have them switch it out, and give them another small frame for the engagement pic?

We are doing the same thing, and we are writing a thank you note to both of them and putting it in the frame as a placeholder.
