Pics of my Garter and Salt Covenant Containers

Mrs. Brown!!!!, on June 30, 2010 at 12:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I purchased the garter and my mom put the music charms on it and she decorated the salt covenant containers that we got from the DOLLAR STORE. instead of paying $70 for a set of jars. You cant really see the music notes in the pic but they are there lol...

No problem binx. Instead of the sand ceremony we are doing salt covenant which is similar to the sand ceremony. In the bible days salt was a commodity and they used to seal covenants and agreements with salt. We are both very active and believe greatly in our word and we wanted to do the salt covenant instead of sand. so we will pour ours into the middle big one.

Salt covenants are coming back according to offbeat bride - an etsy seller is making them now, one for husband/wife, one as a general gift, and one for mixed families. Ive wanted to do one too.

    The Salt Covenant

During ancient times, agreements and promises were sealed by a salt covenant. Each person would take a pinch of salt from their pouch and place it in the pouch of the other. This agreement could not be broken unless an individual could retrieve their own grains of salt. But this, of course, is impossible.
