Picking a Shore Excursion in Nassau

My fiancé and I are going on a cruise also to the Bahamas! We picked para sailing one day, next stop snorkeling with sea horses, and then jet skis. We were super considering the swimming with the pigs and may also add that on! On our honeymoon I don't really want to be around a bunch of people and kids so we wanted to do stuff that could be more "exclusive"/ away from everyone.

We will probably stay on the boat at Nassau. I've heard Atlantis is overrated for the price but haven't gone myself. Last time we walked around and went to Senor Frog's and the time before went to the beach and jetskiied which was nice.

I've debated snorkeling, but I'm not sure my SO is too keen on the idea of being underwater for long period of time.

I would do the swimming with pigs, I think that would be a super memorable thing to do/ super cool and you would be more alone than in a water park, so you can get some more quality alone time to enjoy everything.

When we were in Nassau for our cruise we did a snuba experience. Super cool. I’d say swim with the pigs, where else can you really do that? The water park is just a water park.

We’ve done the water park at Atlantis. It’s really nice and wasn’t crowded at all when we went. However I have to say that Nassau is probably my least favorite cruise port. The last few times we’ve been there, we’ve stayed on the ship. Those are excellent days to get massages done at a discounted price. You can also enjoy the pools and other areas without all the other people.

Stay on the boat and use that day for for spa treatment's and specialty dining. Honestly Nassau is the worst port, sorry but it is truly awful. Atlantis is always packed and overpriced and I'm not sure where the swimming with pigs is located as these are in Exuma and that's quite a way's away. We cruise 3-4 times a year and we got off the ship twice to find it's just not worth it. They offer deals and discounts shipboard while in port and you will see the veteran cruiser's taking advantage of the discounts. What other ports do you have?

What time of year are you going? The water can be choppy in the Bahamas in the winter. I would do Atlantis if its in the winter! Atlantis can get crowded, but if you go right when you get off the ship it won't be bad. Then you can get a nice lunch there and head back to the ship when the crowds really pick up.

I agree with what Amanda said. Nassau isn't really worth it. When we went, we really just walked around and went to eat at Senor Frogs. There wasn't a lot to do.

We did a carnival cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. We opted for a boat ride with snorkeling. We really loved it! We bought a cheap underwater camera and ended up with great pictures. Our trip was in June, and it looked like tons of people went to Atlantis. We love theme parks but chose snorkeling since we’ve never had an opportunity before the cruise. I’d suggest reading the reviews before you book your excursion. If I remember correctly, some of the swimming with dolphins and other similar options had negative reviews. Like there was only one dolphin and you had to pay way too much for them to take your picture, etc.
