Hi all,
What are all of the questions to think of when vetting a DJ? TIA!

I picked my DJ based on the services he could offer me.
I had two I was looking at.
    The one I chose:
We spoke in person once, everything else was done back and forth via email. (The other guy wanted me to call him, and I just hate phone calls.)
He also had an online catalog where we could go in and have some say and make lists of what we want played, and add things he didn't have.
We also just clicked personality wise.

I found cheaper DJs but mine was a package since he also had a photobooth service and since he was multilingual in the language I needed it just made sense to go with him.

I had a phone call with a couple DJs. I asked about music for the ceremony (if your reception is at the same venue), cocktail hour, photobooth, and what packages they have. We got uplighting too because our venue has big beautiful walls so it's gonna look sick. I also asked about music portals (picking must plays, and do not plays). I clicked with the last guy I talked to, we were both emo kids back in the day, so we got along really well. I made sure he was gonna be the DJ that day.

I also did ask if there was a discount if we paid in full at the time of our deposit. We got a 10% discount. So one vendor is fully paid and it's one less thing to stress over.

Thanks! I didn't think to ask of a song list. I guess I just assumed that a DJ would have a broad selection

They do. We just wanted a lot more creative control. We have specific tastes that may not match our rural area surroundings and didn't want a bland mainstream vibe either.

Yeah, that's a good point. There are a few songs we hope not to hear on our wedding day, lol!

Good to know. I'll ask about discounts with paying in full. Cheers!
