Picked up my dress today! Straps too short ?

Darian, on June 25, 2017 at 7:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

My dress came in super early and I was able to pick it up today! I was a little nervous because it is kind of "one of a kind" more like one of a few dress and I was worried it wasn't going to look the same as the dress I first tried on. Anyways it looks almost identical and I was really pleased with it. However I had to order a size smaller and now I'm worried the straps aren't long enough. I am pretty tall at 5'10 and have a really long torso. I'm hoping a seamstress can let the straps out a little bit? Has anyone had to do this before? I'm wondering if it's even possible ? (Sorry for the long post lol)

Beautiful dress! I don't see anything wrong with the straps.

Here is the back. I'm thinking maybe they can make them longer by doing something in the back?

There is beadwork that should go underneath the breast and I feel like it doesn't go all the way under. And the straps were pretty tight and uncomfortable

What makes you think the straps are too short? Because it looks perfect on you. Length is good, they don't look like they're digging in to your shoulders, boobs are sufficiently covered but you've still got some cleavage. What's the problem?

ETA: Beadwork looks a little high in the center, but everywhere else it's fine. If you lower it to where the center is underneath, boobs will be all over the place.

This actually looks perfect as is. I don't think you should adjust the straps at all.

Oh wow. Showstopper! If you lengthen straps they might be falling off shoulders and v-neck might be too low. It looks like it fits perfectly, girl.

Yea I thought about moving the beadwork but the straps were king of digging into my shoulders and I feel like it was squishing my boobs if that makes sense lol.

Holy crap, girl. You look gorgeous in that dress! I don't have any experience with lengthening the straps, but at 5'11", I feel your pain! Hopefully your seamstress with be able to figure out a solution!

Did you get that custom made? It's a little unclear to me in the post. If not, who's the style and designer. This is stunning!!!

Thanks everyone! I got it a show tester. The designer is essence of Australia. They were testing out different dresses to see if people like them to put in their2018 collection. If enough people like this style then it will be in production but if not they won't make them so I had to order that day at the tester show.

If the straps are a little tight I'm sure they could add a half inch/inch to give you a teeny bit more room. I see what you mean about the beading but if it gets too much lower you'll be worrying about the girls lol. It's a beautiful dress.

You are stunning, and the straps look perfect! However if they feel too tight, I'm sure you can find a seamstress who can add a little length for you. Congrats, you are going to make one heck of a beautiful bride!

If you're uncomfortable, definitely have it altered. The last thing you'll want it to be uncomfortable on the big day!

It looks great I love your dress. I don't have any advice for letting out the straps.
