Picinic-y/rustic Centerpieces

Hey y’all! Happy 4th!

My wedding is bit over a year away but we’re trying to knock out as much planning as we can! We’re getting married in October, 2021 on horse farm with a lake and a BEAUTIFUL barn. We’ve picked a few picnic themed details being that picnics are one of our favorite date nights! We also have a bit of a rustic/ whimsical style going.
We have our favors pretty much decided upon. We’re doing a little picnic basket (photo below) with some green checkered fabric, a “picnic in the park” tea candle from Yankee Candle, watermelon salt water taffy, and a green ribbon over the top. Picinic-y/rustic Centerpieces 1

We’re stumped on our centerpieces tho! I came across these chipwood berry baskets that I was thinking we could stain a darker brown.Picinic-y/rustic Centerpieces 2

But I’m not sure what to put in them! We’re trying to veer away from flowers in our centerpieces for cost purposes. And I didn’t want to do pinecones and leaves since we’re gonna do our table cards sitting in pine cones. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? What did you do for centerpieces without using flowers?
Thank you in advance!!

Ok first, this is so cute! As far as flowers, we went with silk flowers (they look real but the cost is extremely lower than real). If you really don’t want to do flowers, I think you can really tie in your wedding colors with fruits, decorative napkins, and Glass bottled drinks. Something like this. I might also suggest using moss as a filler for the baskets! It's another way of adding something plant-y. And a lot of greenery is relatively inexpensive as well!

Those are adorable! Picnics and farms remind me of fruits and veggies so you could easily decorate with those.

I agree with the idea of putting fruit and/or bottles in them! Maybe also line the basket with a piece of fabric that has a picnic table pattern (typically the red/white checkered pattern) on it, though find one in your wedding colors? Also, the favors you came up with are so cute!

Silk flowers are a pretty inexpensive way to go. I’ve gotten several that look really good from the dollar stores. Apples would definitely work with the fall and picnic themes. Berries and greenery. Mini pumpkins? Don’t shoot me for that suggestion. I’m having an October wedding and anytime someone mentions pumpkins I give them a dirty look. But I’m not going for a fall look, my theme is enchanted forest and not Cinderella or farm.

Very cute and fun!!! I once created centerpieces for a party using a few stacked miniature hay bales, ribbon, a few artificial flowers and votive candles. I think something similar would be perfect for your centerpieces (and keep you from using a basket again). For more of a picnic style, you could use some red and white checkered ribbon around the hay bales and add artificial flowers mixed with fruit (like PP’s mentioned above). How about sola wood flowers? They are so pretty and we spent under 200 and have more than enough!

Considering your theme and venue I would line the basket with a checker pattern fabric that folds over the outside and then use either daisies or carnations in floral foam (you’ll want to put plastic under the floral foam), both are inexpensive flowers (under $200 for 400+ flowers depending on which flower). Mason jars will also go with your theme.
