Photography/videography Pricing&reccomendation

Kelly, on October 10, 2020 at 4:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
My name is Kelly and I am recently engaged as of Aug 20, 2020. I'm looking for videography and photography without breaking the bank. I'd like my videography to cover 7-8 hours with first dance edits, all toast edits, mother/son and father/daughter edits. I want a highlight real and documentary edit. I prefer to keep it under $4000 altogether but so far anything that feels like "the one" ends up being $5000 or $7000 starting. The one pair I found that sounded like their final would be $4900 has ended up being $5700 or $7700. I want good quality photos and videos without spending half my wedding budget on it. My wedding budget is $15,000-20,000. And if I go with the $5700-$7700 pair then with the added reception, I wont have money towards anything else. I know that what I want is probably why I can't find anyone within my budget but if anyone can point me towards good reccomendations, I would be grateful.

Without knowing where the wedding is it's hard to provide recommendations.

Location plays a big factor in costs in general, but especially for video and photo. I was looking at photographers in a nearby city and was struggling with how to fit that in my budget, but then I found one local to my town and the cost dropped a lot.
Know too that they add on fees for traveling outside a certain radius, which won’t be seen in the quotes online, and there’s usually even more add ons available as well, and they definitely all add up.

But as for my budget, I only booked a photographer, no video, for 6 hours and it still took up a solid quarter of my budget. I spent more on the photographer than I did the venue and dress combined.

For the length of time able what you want I hate to tell you that's going to be the price. Good quality costs. You can find cheaper but may not like what you get. All I can suggest is keep looking around but all day photography can be at least 2,000 and depends on your area. I would cut back where you can. Maybe you don't do 7 hrs of video.

I decided not to get a videographer and got wedding mix instead. In the end, you still get a professionally edited video. But it really depends on your priorities and where you are willing to spend more money

Price depends on your location. Thumbtack.com will have the most accurate gauge for you.

At a lower price point, I recommend looking up students at the local college for this. Those studying photography/film may be looking for experience for a lot less money.

Maybe cut back some of the videography? Do you really need 7-8 hours of video? I think that may help decrease the cost

I don't know where you are located. But Eivans photography/videography has locations all over the US and their packages start at $2000 for both.
