Photography & Video

HELP! I need some advice! My FH and I have been arguing for the past two weeks about booking both a photographer and videographer( one that does both!) He doesn’t think we need to spend extra money on it but I want everything documented and I want to watch it back! Am I crazy or is my fiancé right? (Is it a waste of money or worth it?)

I think that a photographer is an absolute necessity. Once the caterer has packed up and gone and your dress is tucked into the back of the closet, pictures are all that you’ll have left. I think videography is more of a splurge.

I'm iffy on sending extra for a videographer. My friends family did it for her because they love using their recorder.

I really do believe it’s a personal opinion. I do believe in splurging for the perfect photographer.. you want someone who documents how you want to look back on your photos. We originally said no to a videographer but as the months went by, I kept thinking of how it captures sounds.. music, vows.. moments photos can’t give you.. I work in the photo/video world, so when I brought his up a few times to my FH he knew how much I wanted it. We agreed on a budget and found someone so that now I’ll have video as well. It’s not for everyone and some see it as an expense verse a treasure!

Honestly I'd rather video than photo aha just cus yes I'd rather see the live action play out again. But as long as you have photo that's good too cus you want to commemorate it

I was questioning that too...but decided I'm not ever going to watch it enough to justify the extra cost.

I personally think it’s worth it to have both. When my sister got married 10 years ago they hired a great photographer and went cheap on the videographer (some kid with his own camera). He ended up missing all of the speeches and did a bad job. Looking back she wished they would have splurged for a better videographer since they rarely look at their photos and pull out video more often. It’s nice to show your kids, family etc what people sounded like, mannerisms, etc. I found a company that does both for a decent price.

Okay, you can diy the Videographer. We were not willing to spend the 💵 for that service. So purchasing 2 small 📹s and having 2 guys of different heights record for us is what I came up with.

    Congratulations and 🍀‼️

My fiancé doesn’t want a videographer either and I’m undecided. It would be nice to have a video but idk if we’ll ever watch it lol

We have a photography/videography package for our wedding. we knew we always wanted both. i know a lot of people think a video is a waste but i really disagree. i was in my friends wedding a few years and she didn't have a videographer, my FH actually filmed everything and made a video for them. granted it wasn't professional quality and he only filmed it on his phone but they're super happy he did it.

i agree with you, it's nice to have something to look back on. yes photos are wonderful but having footage of family and friends having a good time seems worth it to me. my sister and i used to watch my parents wedding video ALL the time. we loved it. we're spending a lot on it, but i know it's going to be so worth it.

if your FH is worried about cost, i'd say hire a friend, cover their meal and ask them to take footage of your wedding. you could edit it yourself as you see fit, but at least you'll have it.

We originally only booked a photographer. Then I started to have regrets so we compromised and only hired a videographer to give us a raw video of the ceremony and first dance, which I feel will be the most important moments for us.
