Photography questions

Fh and I have been reevaluating our budget and found that we saved more than expected and now have some extra money. Most of that is now going towards a honeymoon we didn't expect to get (!!!) but there's a little left that I would like to put into photography.
Currently, we have a single photographer for only six hours. I was never super happy with that but knew I could make it work. But now I don't have to! So I talked to the photographer and we basically have two options:
1. Add an additional 2 hours of coverage for $500
2. Add a second shooter for the 6 hours we have for $750
I think that both of these options would be great. I think they'd help us get more awesome photos as well as relieve some of the pressure I'd expected to feel, rushing around to get all the pics I want
I'm not sure which to go with... My mom wants option 1, but I'm leaning towards 2. FH had no opinion of course. Which would y'all pick?

Second shooter all the way. It doesn’t matter how great your photographer is, they can only be in one place at one time. There are some moments that simply can’t be redone. If you have one shooter, you get one angle of your FH seeing you walk down the aisle, it’s either you or him.

If I had extra money I would pay a videographer to record the ceremony ! But with your ideas, it’s a toss up! If your mom is paying for photography, let her pick. But I would do the extra hour if you’re having a long day, long reception. If not an extra long reception, do second shooter!

I personally would prefer a second shooter. They help more than you can think. While you’re doing pics with the girls, your groom is doing pics with his boys. Sometimes adding more time doesn’t help much because the length of the wedding is set. You can’t delay an extra hour for shots but if you have 2 you’ll get the same about of photos in half the time. If you want pictures while dancing, throwing bouquet and so on then more time might be need it otherwise I say get the second shooter.

I'd say second shooter. Some shots are better captured by two people - and we're having one photographer with the bridal suite while a different one is with my FH, and someone will be able to get his face when he sees me the first time and someone will be able to get mine! (I hope I don't faint)

Definitely get the second photographer. 6 hours is more than enough time for photos. And a second photographer is a MUST in my opinion. With only 1, how do you capture both your reactions when seeing each other down the aisle? What if a guest stands up and blocks the photographer’s shot during your first kiss? What if your photographer sneezes or something during an important moment, or what if their angle ends up not being great?

We had 5 hours of coverage and 3 photographers (was supposed to be 2 but they last minute sent a third for some reason 😂🤷🏻‍♀️) and we got over 3000 photos. Definitely didn’t need more than 5 hours, but the multiple photographers was invaluable.

(including photos just to show, look at how amazing both these shots are and you couldn’t get both of those angles with just 1 photographer!)

Definitely go with the 2nd shooter! All the “important moments” will take place during those 6 hours you have them anyway.

I agree with the second shooter! You get "double" the photos of the big moments!
