Photography Question for Timeline Preparation

Fia, on August 30, 2019 at 1:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hello WW,

So our wedding day is fast approaching...and I wanted to ask...how much time do you think I will need to allot the photographer for getting dressed pictures for the groom and groomsman? And vice versa? We are getting HMU done ar the hotel but will get dressed at the venue. My Groom doesn't want a 1st look or touch so I was hoping to get his photos done right when the photographer gets to the venue.
Is an hour enough time?
TIA!!!

I think 30 minutes would be plenty enough for getting ready photos of the groom and groomsmen.

Ask your photographer!! Theyll usually have advice for how long they feel like theyll need to take a proper amount of pictures. Our photographer gave us a run down of how long he wanted to take pictures, were not doing a getting ready pics or a first look with the groom, however, we are having a first look with both my dad and soon to be father in law. So he wants an hour before the ceremony to take those pictures, as well as just some of the venue all set up before people are in it.

We had two photographers (the one we hired and then she included a second shooter) so they split up. I think we budgeted 30 mins for this and it happened at the same time. I also asked for portraits of the groom, so I think one photographer did those while the other did detail shots of our accessories (jewelry, cologne, perfume, shoes, etc).

I agree with the PP. My photographer and I went over a timeline before I signed the contract because we are also not doing a first look and I wanted to make sure that we'd have time for the getting ready pictures and doing bridal party pictures before our ceremony (it's at 6). She's coming at 3 to take getting ready pics and bridal party/family pics before the ceremony.

Depends how many photographers you have. Don't forget about the detail shots many photographers do of the rings, dress, accessories, wedding invite with rings, etc. If you have two photographers, 45 mins sounds fine to be able to mingle and do things without rushing as far as detail shots and getting ready, as one will be with the groom/groomsmen and one will be with you. If you have one photographer I would just ask them how long it usually takes to go between the two groups.

I think our photographer spent about 10 minutes with the guys "getting ready". Putting on ties, jackets, and boutonnieres is about it.

I would definitely ask your photographer for advice, but I think an hour would be more than enough time. I'd say maybe 15-30 minutes for this.
