Trying to pic a photographer.. as a bride what would you prefer? Option 1: Photographer takes roughly 2500 then cuts out the bad one (closed eyes, talking, etc) and provides you with 800-1000 shots of your day. With promise to edit the top 10-20 we love most. Trying to pic a photographer.. as a bride what would you prefer?

Option 1: Photographer takes roughly 2500 then cuts out the bad one (closed eyes, talking, etc) and provides you with 800-1000 shots of your day. With promise to edit the top 10-20 we love most.

Option 2: Photographer provides 300-400 edited shots.

I've seen previous posts that say its quality over quantity but I am not doing a videographer so the photos will be all I have. I am worried by limiting to 300-400 that I will be missing out on some other great moments.

My photographer says she will give us a low balled number but self admits that she takes over the amount she quotes. She always edits all of her photos.

@FallBride, you're missing the point...there is NO value in high numbers of photos alone, and it's definitely sloppy to release dirty files. Why make the customer do the job of the photographer? Quality over quantity.

Those aren't my only two options. Just two of many (I'm based in Houston). The pricing was within my budget. I didn't think that option #1 was a low photo count, but I was surprised by the limited number by photographer #2.

All advise given makes sense, quality vs quantity and that there is most likely a photographer out there capable of both.

    Vendor searching is exhausting.

If I have to take 2500 images to get 500 good ones then I had better find another way to make a living. As wedding photographers we take a lot of images because we think that's what our client's want. However, if I have to shoot and burn 2500 images to get 500 good ones then I had better find another way to make a living. You would be better served by finding a photographer who, like Jay Farrell said above "knows what he is doing". How many of those 2500 images do you think will be repeats or very close to repeats? I would say more than half. keep looking, you will find the right photographer for your wedding.
