Photography length?

Taylor, on May 4, 2020 at 11:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hey y'all! I have a question about how long to book my photographer for.

We are having a small ceremony (30 people) and a backyard reception. I only want a photographer for the ceremony, because the reception will be more casual and everyone has phones with good cameras anyway!

I want to get pictures of getting ready (really just when I'm getting into my dress), a first look, the ceremony, a few pictures with bridal party/family, and lots of pictures of just the two of us! At first I thought that 4 hours would be enough since it's only the ceremony and it's small, but now I'm questioning if I need 6 hours. Any advice? Thanks!

4 hours is definitely enough for that

It sounds to me like 4 hours would be enough for what you're envisioning

You probably won't even need 4 hours. That's plenty of time for what you are describing. I was going to say 2.

My photographer starts at 4 hours, so hopefully that just means plenty of time for tons of pics of me and the new hubby Smiley smile thanks for your advice!!

If you don’t want any coverage for the reception I think 4 hours would be enough for getting ready, ceremony and formals. I know you said there will be other phones and cameras, but I would also consider extending into part of the reception just to capture cake cutting and first dance possibly? But if it’s not in your budget and you’re certain on what you want coverage on, then I would say you’re definitely fine with 4 hours!

4 hours should be more than enough. One of the photographers I spoke with recommended 6 hours and that was including the reception.

We’re doing the same and we booked our photographer for 4 hours.
