Photography friendly foundation!!

Pinkuin, on March 14, 2014 at 8:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Y'all I am having a major hard time picking foundation. First its the color matching, then I want something full coverage, and then something that photographs well!

My faves so far:

estee lauder double wear (but havent found the perfect shade)

Napoleon: chinadoll

Today just got a sample of dermablend which is professional makeup to cover tatoos etc. But it has titanium dioxide 20 SPF, which I've heard gives you that white cast! But thats weird bc this is supposed to be makeup for photos/theater/harsh lights?

What did you use for photos, or do you have any suggestions?? Anyone have a bad "white cast" in their photos??

MUA's, please help!

I'm not a MUA but a potential one for my wedding did my makeup for my engagement shoot and she definitely said not to put any sunscreen on and that mineral will give a white cast. She used bobbi brown and makeup forever for foundation/concealor. Hopefully that gives you some other options to look into! Good luck!

Makeup Forever HD Foundation i've heard is THE BEST for photography. ive never personally used it but ive googled it before and that is always my result. i went into Ulta when I got my engagement photos taken to ask for a good foundation for pictures and she told me the makeup forever is great, but for a drugstore alternative the Revlon ColorStay liquid foundation is good. that is what i used for my engagement pics and had NO problems. the only issue with that is, is if you go to Ulta or a place like that they cant color match your skin to the right shade. if you get a more professional brand that is usually more costly they can color match you. but, i know at Target, walmart and Ulta if you buy a makeup and it doesnt match you just keep your receipt and you can return it. so just keep buying until you find your right shade Smiley smile it wouldnt hurt to go into Ulta or Sephora or a place like that and ask them their opinion and have one of the girls help you with the shade.

^^^^ also, theres two diff kinds of colorstay. there's one with more SPF in it than the other, so be sure to get the one with less SPF. i think the differences are are for the 'skin type' they're meant for. i believe the dry skin has more spf, and the one for oily skin has less spf.

Makeup forever hi def foundation is awesome! And light weight. Go to sephora and they will do a color match by taking three pictures of your skin. I've never had a foundation that was such the perfect match. I used it for eng pics and will for wedding as well. I use it everyday now!

@Nicole and @Rachel.. omgggg i keep hearing about it too!!! I have read mixed reviews on the matte finish (which I want) and some people with oily skin have complained. Mine is combo so like nose/forehead gets shiny but I am really wanting to try it! I like that they take pictures to color match. Because yeah the estee lauder people cannot match to save their life but I blame the awful fluorescent mall lights!! Thanks for the tip! Rachel, do you have an engagement photo I can see? If you dont mind sharing I would love to see the finish Smiley smile

Deborah I have pics in my profile otherwise I could email you some. I get oily/shiny too and I've been using Mac for a long time. I realized the Mac powder I was using was the culprit. Now I'm using the makeup forever and blotting powder by Too Faced (it's in a pink compact) it's called too faced primed and poorless also at sephora. The hi def stuff is awesome!

Definetly nothing with SPF and always, always start with a exfoliated, moisturized face. Finding that right face primer is going to help with oil and performance of any brand of foundation.
