Photography at Rehearsal Dinner

We chose not to have engagement pictures which were included in our photography package, so our photographer will be attending our Rehearsal Dinner instead. I thought this would be a nice substitution so we can get some informal pictures with close friends and family. She asked if I had any particular pictures in mind, but I can't seem to think of any besides the normal family pictures, and maybe some pictures with each bridesmaid separately.

Did any of you have, or plan on having, your photographer take photos at your rehearsal dinner and what pictures were must-haves?

It is included in our package for our photographers to attend our rehearsal and take some pics - mainly so they can see the venue and get a feel for what the lighting is like, where they will need to move around, etc. I don't think they are planning to come to dinner also (but I guess I should check). Maybe a few cute shots with FH somewhere outside since it is the last night together before the big day. If anyone is making a speech at the RD they can get pics of that

Our photographer is coming to the rehearsal dinner for 2 hours! I might get a few specific pictures (a few good ones of me and FH, one with my bridesmaids, one with my immediate family), but in general we just wanted them to take candid pictures of the event!

Thanks! We will have her for 2 hours, so she will arrive mid-rehearsal, and stay for dinner. I think it would be fun to get some with each bridesmaid, and definitely a few with FH. I'll probably just tell her we'd like a lot of candids and anything she can think of!

I think I would definitely ask for a few portrait style and candid photos of you and your FH, so you have some that aren't in full-blown wedding attire and look more like you guys on a normal day. That's what I love most about our engagement pics, we don't take a lot of photos together, so it's nice to have some that look really good but aren't super formal.
