Photographers Problem. What do i do? 🙃

Steph, on September 23, 2021 at 11:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So i had my photographers all set when i first planned my wedding. Paid my deposit and everything was set to go. Then covid happened and i had to postpone everything. Its now 1 year later and we are able to have a much smaller more intimate wedding as again there are covid restrictions still in place. My wedding is in 3 wks and my photographers (who are a married couple) just messaged me saying that due to restrictions they now will be bringing their 2 young children. Firstly i have no children at my wedding except for the acceptance of my own child who will be there for obvious reasons. 2nd i have already cut my wedding down from 150 to 20 people and had to tell alot of my guests they can no longer attend due to numbers which i included my wedding staff as part of that number. 3rd they have told me that they dont have any options of family or friends to care for the kids. And lastly they have said my deposit is non refundable.
I dont have time or the extra money to hire new photographers and i also would feel super guilty if those kids came because that could of been 2 extra seats i could have given to 2 other family members. What am i suppose to do? Is it wrong to tell them to just find a baby sitter? And what happens if they cant get care for the kids before 3 wks is up. Help me

What restrictions would force them to bring their two children? That is not professional and you should be refunded.

This makes zero sense. Either way, if I was in your situation I’d ask them to drop down to one photographer and the mom or dad who isn’t shooting can stay home with the kids. A second shooter is always nice but not necessary, especially at such a small wedding. I would ask for a price adjustment in light of that, but not expect it. AFTER you receive your photos I’d be sure to leave accurate reviews on every platform available about their lack of professionalism.

I agree - I know of no restrictions that mean bring kids. Unless what they are saying is that because of restrictions they have lost their sitter. Sadly, that is a them problem and not a you problem. Your contract didn't specify kids and you have given up guests. Still.... Things are bad, though, and our vendors are not immune to challenges either. I would bump down to one photographer and have the other watch the kids. It's rock and hard place time. I'm very sorry that this happened and that things aren't what they should be.

I’m confused. Are there restrictions not allowing them to hire childcare?

Totally agree with Kylie. Inform your photographer that you want only 1 shooter & the other can stay home with their kids.
