Hey Everyone! Are you guys having one photographer or two? If you had one did you regret it?

Need opinions please! Thanks in advance!

I think I am gonna splurge and go for two as the price difference is minor for my package. I hear it is more pics and that one can catch pics the other may miss and vice versa.

I think the biggest advantage of two is that they can capture the same event from two different perspectives (e.g., both yours and FH's face when you see each other for the first time, etc.), AND, they can cover two different events at the same time (e.g., the women getting ready and the men getting ready or wedding party photos and the cocktail hour, etc.). Daughter was extremely glad she had both her awesome photographer and his well-trained second shooter.

I had two! It’s definitely an advantage as Pp mentioned because then you’d get different angles and different photos shot

Agree with all of this. A second shooter was a must for us.

2 shooters are necessary for us because of the format of our wedding. One shooter will be with me and one with my FH during the getting ready stage because we are doing bride fetching games and tea ceremony where bride is indoors and the groom and groomsmen are outdoors completing the challenges to gain entry. Also during wedding and reception, the 2 shooters focus on different things. One will focus on couple/officiant/gorgeous backdrop as you exchange vows. Other will get guests, venue details, etc. This leads to a wider variety or shots. We are also having 2 shooters do videography as well. It’s pretty important to us to get comprehensive photos and video footage for the memories.

I only ever considered one photographer because our wedding is 50 people (or less). We plan on having a “first look”, sunset shoot together during cocktail hour, and no wedding party therefore no wedding party shots! I think one is all we need.

We had 2 and it was a great decision! You get photos from several angles, which is really nice! Also, one can be with you while you get ready while the other is with your fiancé.

We are going to have two. The package wasn’t a huge price difference for the extra shooter. We are getting ready off site. So the grooms can have one and we will have one at the hotel. I hope it’s worth it, but the price was such a small difference that it should be fine.

I'm eloping and there's only going to be four of us total but the photographers I am working with are a husband-and-wife team and they are giving me an elopement rate and honestly it is a $50 difference an hour for a second shooter and basically I was told the husband's going to be there either way as an assistant so I figured for 50 bucks more an hour which will be 200 Total Wine I have them be a second photographer. I figured we're spending far less than even a low-budget wedding so why not splurge and the photographer I hired made a very good point that while I'm getting ready she can be with me and then the second photographer can be with my fiance while he's already dressed and getting some professional pictures. It'll be interesting to see photos from different angles and I like they do you have any more pictures of our day hahaha.

My Fh and I decided two was necessary. We are getting ready in two different places plus we have a large wedding. This way you can capture a lot more. One can be taking staged pictures and the other can get candids of family or like the flower girl twirling. lol

TWO!!! I would never have thought of that but our photographer included a 2nd shooter for 90 minutes. Unique angles and totally different shots during key moments because they could divide & conquer.

2 is totally necessary imo. My photographers actually will not even give you an option to have 1 photographer because they know they can’t do their best work with only 1. We actually had 3 end up coming (was supposed to be 2, but they sent an extra photography trainee to our wedding which was fine by me!) so we got 3 angles of this one amazing moment and I’m just SO glad we have all of these! Could not have gotten all these photos with only 1 photographer, and seriously, which one would you give up??

I had 2, and it was such a great decision! They were able to capture different perspectives of the wedding. I’ve just gotten a sneak peek of photos back, but I’m already loving what they did!!

Also decided on two. I really wanted photos of our reception decor before guests start to arrive. But then that would cut time taking photos of us and our bridal party, so we decided to just spend the extra $ and not regret missing any photos. Also agree with previous posters that it’s nice to have a photographer each when getting ready.

I've heard (can't remember from where) that if you have more than 75 people, two photographers makes a big difference if photos of guests are a priority. I'll definitely be picking a package with a second photographer for that reason as the photos are in my top 3 "must haves."
