Photographer

So I am having a Thursday evening wedding. I am wondering if anybody knows if it is possible to get a photographer for less than $1500 for 4-5 hours? I want good quality pictures but I am also on a tight budget. I want to know if it is possible to get great quality photos for cheaper.
Thanks!

Honestly you get what you pay for. I finish I would have listened to the florist who said that to me because I went with a different florist who was a lot cheaper and her work reflected that. I regret going with the cheaper florist because she didn't really do anything I wanted her to and my flowers were falling apart before the ceremony started. That said the pricing for photography varies based on where you live and the photographers level of experience.

Oh ya. I'm getting my photographer for $925 (including tip) and that is 3 hours at the wedding on a Thursday night, plus engagement photos. He's highly rated, war photographer turned wedding photographer and owns a wedding venue, so he's legit. His work is great. I found 3 other comparable people under $800.

The cost for a photographer often has a lot to do with location. That being said, if you only want them for 4-5 hours as opposed to an all day ordeal, you should definitely be able to get one for a cheaper rate. I suggest calling (or emailing) a couple photographers that you like and ask them what they can offer. Some may simply not be available on a Thursday. Others may be able to give you a great discount. But I think you should be able to get what you want within your price range. Just remember that the more you add, such as photo albums and touch ups, the more your final cost will be. If you get the rights to all your pictures when they are given to you, it may be cheaper to just get the proofs from the photographer and have Shutterfly (or whoever) print the pictures for you.

Check out Lily & Lime! I found them through WW.. affordable prices, you can customize your plan and it’s all done online with a lot of customer service interaction. We are using them for our videographer.

It's definitely possible! I'm a former photographer myself- not a longtime pro or anything, but I am more knowledgeable and picky than the average bride. I thought I was going to have to pay over $2k for a photographer, but I recently found some options on this site that are much cheaper. I'm leaning towards one who has 5 star ratings on 4-5 different platforms (Google, WW, thumbtack, etc.) for around $1300 with am amazing portfolio. I'm not even having to settle and can afford the extra hour I wanted but couldn't afford with a pricier photographer. Keep looking and you can find some great photographers out there at a more reasonable rate.

It is absolutely possible to find a photographer with those requirements! Admittedly it took me a long time (weeks) of emailing photographers in my area and asking for their pricing information to find one I love. I looked on Instagram mostly (I typed in my city name and wedding photography/photographer (and different combinations of those words).

It really does depend on timing of the wedding and how far In advance you reach out to them. We’re getting married in the off-season (January 2020), and we just booked our photographer two weeks ago. Those two things combined allowed us to get a significant discount because she wasn’t previously booked, and it’s less likely that there will be many other brides looking for photographers in winter three months from now haha.

She’s professional and generally charges **** for weddings, I believe (that’s for a full day with a second shooter, and a few other things). She’s working for us for $500 (which was our photography budget—super low, I know), which includes a second shooter, up to 6 hours of coverage, an engagement shoot if we want it, and 500 edited images)! And on top of all that, she’s the sweetest person, loves the Lord, and we love her work.

Keep searching, Emma. You’ll find a photographer who will work within your budget. 😊

It’s definitely possible. My photographer is $700 and covering 4 hours. I absolutely love all her photos! I can’t wait to work with her Sunday at my wedding!

It probably depends on your location but I’m getting a photographer for $1500 (i received a $500 discount) on a Saturday. I’m sure you can find someone.

If there's a few photographers you have your eye on, I would see if they would consider special pricing for your wedding since it's for a short amount of time and on a weekday. The worst they can do is say no!
