Photographer versus Dj...

Adrienne, on June 12, 2019 at 12:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 22
We can not afford both. Both are the same price and 4 hour coverage. I am leaning more towards a photographer as they will give us the photos we will have the rest of our lives. Currently for music we just have Spotify playlists but the songs transition smoothly and don't drag on forever/no awkward silences (tooting my own horn here haha). We would just ask one of the venue staff or a good friend if they wouldn't mind just changing the dance songs (our first dance, mother/son etc) and then one the party music starts hitting play and letting it go. What do you guys think????

I would rather have a photographer to capture the special moments forever, vs someone who is just gonna stand there and play music, because as you said, you can as easily play it from a phone.

I would rather have a photographer as well. Hook up a good Spotify list and you should be good but you definitely will want to have photos to remember all of the special moments

Photographer for me hands down. You can keep those photographs forever, but the DJ really is just a one day thing.

If you can't afford both, I would definitely go with the photographer! You'll want to have those so you can look back on your day!

I’d definitely get the photographer! Spotify playlist will be perfectly fine plus you can have the exact list of songs that you want and beautiful pictures to look back at forever!

Photographer 100%! Those photos will stay with you forever.
I’ve been to weddings without a DJ where everybody had the best time dancing, so it’s totally doable. I’d just make a specific playlist for each part of the wedding: ceremony, processional, first dance, dinner, party etc. & ask your MC (could be just a friend/family member who is good with speaking to crowds) to announce things & press play on the correct playlist.

Yes I agree. I'd rather have the photographer. At the end of the day the DJ is really just music played. A ton of people just do Spotify lists

That's exactly what I did!! Okay I was pretty set on getting a photographer but just wanted to see if anyone had any good differing opinions on having a DJ

Definitely go with the photographer! I feel like photos are one thing you can’t cut. We won’t have a DJ either, just Spotify

Definitely photographer. I wouldn’t expect a ton of dancing with just a Spotify playlist but if you can’t cut the budget in other areas I think pictures are way more important that dancing.

I agree I think the photographer is more important. Music you have so many other options . I think you plan is perfect. My only suggestion is to have the same playlist available on different electronic devices in case of emergency (dead battery, phone not having service, etc) that way you’ll have a backup plan for your backup plan lol
