Photographer timeline - 4 hours

Annie, on July 17, 2020 at 1:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
We are having a small, low-key DIY ceremony in our backyard on Oct. 24. I’ve hired a photographer for 4 hours and was wondering if anyone has timeline suggestions.
I do not need getting ready photos and am going to do a first look. We have invited guests to arrive at 5:30 to mingle and grab a beer and the (very short) ceremony will be at 6pm (around 10 min). We will have first dances, toasts, and pizza. We will not be doing a bouquet or garter toss or fancy exit. What would y’all recommend? Thank you!

I would probably start doing photos at around 4-4:30p then, that way you're doing your first look and family photos and bridal party/grooms party photos.

I would definitely reach out to your photographer, they should be able to give you a good idea of how long first look pictures, WP pictures, family pictures, etc will take and from there you can build a good timeline. They’ve got the years of experience.
With ceremony 6-6:10ish, are you going straight from that into family, WP and B&G pictures and having guests mingle, or are wanting most pictures done prior to the ceremony?

Thanks Jessica! Good question! I was thinking family and Wedding Party photos before the ceremony. We only have 2 bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen, so it should go fairly quickly. We’re inviting guests to mingle and have a drink before the ceremony and then gather on the lawn for our vows, etc. It’s a total of 27 guests (if everyone RSVPs yes) with about 2/3 being family members.

Do you plan on having cake cutting? If so, do you want the photographer there for that? If so, you'd have to factor in the fact that the photographer will be there for dinner and dinner is normally at least an hour long.
