Photographer question

Kristen, on December 30, 2019 at 6:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
So I was so happy that I had found a photographer to shoot my wedding pictures and the photographer has the current deal going on right now. I even showed my FH their website and we loved the pictures. However after investigating some of the Instagram pictures a bit more I noticed that their last picture was done in 2016. I plan to ask my photographer if she has any more recent pictures but should I be really concerned that the last picture on her social media Accounts and website were back in 2016? Is it a big deal and should I look for other photographers? I'm not willing to spend thousands of dollars on a photographer but I do want someone good and I don't want to take a chance and not have a good photographer. What would you do?

Are there any reviews for your photographer since then?

I would have a backup plan in case there is a reason that the photographer hasn’t updated their pictures. The photographer we want to use constantly updates her website as well as her Facebook and Instagram pages with sneak peeks of photos she’s taken recently. That’s a main way they get their clients, so a photographer not having more recent photos would be a red flag for me.

I can check via google. I almost considered reaching out to some of the people tagged in instagram to see how they were.

Yeah that is what my FH said too. I am concerned and thinking to reach out to other photographers too. Thank you.

I would definitely see if there are recent reviews. To me photography was incredibly important so I definitely did my research prior. I also did spend a couple thousand dollars, but I felt that I was getting what I paid for. My brother-in-law and his wife paid way less for their photographer, but you could definitely tell because the quality of her work wasn't good. She didn't have a lot of experience in the wedding industry so most of her photos were not posed. People were standing far apart, awkwardly or weren't even looking at the camera. They also got married at a beautiful golf course, but where she had them take photos had telephone wires in the background so most of their photos include the wires which took away from the beautiful scenery.

Luckily I did not sign or pay anything so I have time to change. I don't want to spend $2000 but may I need to. I do see some more affordable ones on this site less than because i agree i want good quality photos as it is only one day. The company has nice pictures but again the red flag for me is that their social media is not updated often. I may have to just go with a new photographer.

My photographer is constantly updating her social media accounts so that is very odd and would be a huge red flag to me as well. I hope it all works out for you.
