PHOTOGRAPHER LOST some of my PICS!!!! what to do? :(

JenJen, on June 7, 2012 at 2:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Our wedding was April 8th (almost 2 months ago) & i have received most of my photos but i am missing a few that are very important to me, like all pics of me & my mom alone & all pics of me & my dad alone. my parents are divorced so these are really important to me. i gave my photographer a list of pics i wanted & he actually took the pics, but he never sent these. i have asked him about them a few times but i haven't gotten anywhere. how do you handle this & get the pics? our wedding was beautiful & all the pics we DID receive are beautiful, i'm just heartbroken over not having pics with my parents individually. thanks!

Have you called him or emailed him?

Sounds like he might not have sent these b/c maybe they didn't turn out?

Well first, that is horrible. And weird if he took the photos and never gave them to you. Second, was your list of photos part of your contract? Like ours is specified in our contract what she needs to take in addition to basic duties. If it was part of the contract that you gave him a list of photos to take, and he took them I would call him up and tell him you want the rest of your photos you discussed and is in the contract, whether good or bad. If it wasn't in the contract, calling him up is better than email, but like KitCat said, if he has any kind of studio, I would go unannounced and ask in person. He may be embarrassed they came out bad or maybe he did mislocate them when he uploaded them.

I don't envy you, good luck.

Does it state in your contract when you will receive everything?

My photog had a statement in the contract that if something happened for whatever reason they would try to recreate the moment so to speak..If he did indeed lose them, then maybe he can take more pics at a later date? I know it's not the same..but it is something.

Also was there anything in the contract stating how many pics you were supposed to get?

Are you certain they are lost? Could it be that in all the photos maybe one of you had a weird look on your face or your eyes closed? I'm just throwing out ideas. While we may try out absolute best to get all the shots our clients want, there are times no matter how much we try, getting everyone to not blink or look away....it just happens. Some people are "blinkers" or flinch every time the shutter button is depressed. There are tricks to help with this, but they don't always work. I'm hoping he has the photos and it's just a case of not optimal photos.

The lack of response on the part of the photographer is just awful. Refer back to your contract to see what is stated. Keep us posted.

Thank you for the responses & advise. Smiley smile

see, the reason i am confused is because i was to receive ALL of the pics that were taken, on a SD card OR DVD's (he sent DVD's) & i got like 1500 pics (he took like 10 of each pose, to be sure they came out so really like 150 different pics) he even sent the ones with eyes closed & funny looks on our faces but i didn't get any of the ones with just me & my mom & me & my dad... it's odd & sad Smiley sad he does not have a store front, he is a freelance photographer with a website & a phone number... no "real" location though Smiley sad even if the pics suck i want them because these days there are ways to fix closed eyes & stuff like that in pics. && it's freakin' creepy that someone would take pics of me & not give them to me O_o i've called a few times & left messages & emailed a few times too. i'm gonna call him again today... i'll update y'all if i find anything out.

I finally spoke with him yesterday & he said he has them & he was sorry, he thought he had sent them along with the others. also said he would sent them to me shortly & they would be online for me to pick up... he also said it takes a few hours to upload them since the files are huge. that is great news to me & now i can't wait to see them. he did an amazing job on our pics so i'm sure they are great! i'll update to let you all know when i actually get them. (& i'll do my review for him too).
