Photographer Issues

Dannielle, on October 25, 2019 at 5:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15
We got married 2 weeks ago and the photographer was 2 and a half hours late causing us to push our ceremony start time back by an hour. She never gave me a reason as to why she was late. I asked for a 50% refund since she was there for half of the paid for time. She posted on a photography facebook group that she double booked and she may have lost an SD card. Am I wrong for requesting a 50% refund?

No I don't think you're wrong. She should have told you and the other couple the moment she realized she was double booked. I would have requested a refund for sure. I would also check with her about the fact that she might have lost a SD card to make sure she didn't lose any of your photos. If she lost some of your photos she should give you a full refund.

Not at all, in fact I think asking only 50% is generous of you, I’d be asking for the full thing back!

50% is being generous on your part! I would want all my money back! Screen shot that comment she made about being over book and losing a sd card incase you need to use it with a lawyer. Threaten legal action because she broke the contract you guys had placed for the wedding. Keep track of all communication you have with her for evidence. I'm sorry this happened to you, i hope otherwise your day was still very special!

Absolutely not. Like the PP said keep a screen shot of that comment she made. Clearly she broke her contract with you and you are being nice only asking for 50% off.

Thanks guys I have screen shots of all of our conversations. I'm just so disappointed and I feel like its gonna be a battle to get even the 50% back. My best friend (MOH) said she'd help me if I needed to take legal actions. I just hope it doesn't get to that point.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this! I hope the photographer realizes how horrible her behavior was

I agree with PP. I would be demanding a full refund and if she lost your photos I would also be taking her to court for damages! You only get married once and now may not even have the photos of it! I would also be posting reviews on all the wedding sites so people would know her shady buisness!

HECK NO! That is very unprofessional and she did not handle the situation very well.

I agree with everyone, I’d be asking for a full refund. she should’ve been honest about it but she played with your date and time, super unprofessional.

Nope you're definitely not wrong. You absolutely deserve some sort of refund because she was so late, missed photographing time and caused you to have to push your ceremony back. That's crazy! I don't understand how you double book for a wedding anyway.

Not at all. if she was only there for half the time you paid for, you should get half that time back.

Screenshots! Also I would ask for 100% of my money back and ask for the raw photos. I would rather find and pay someone to edit them than let her keep them. I would also leave honest reviews on every wedding site and Facebook. If i was a prospective couple looking at her, I would definitely want to know this!

Agreed!! However, I recommend getting your photos and money back before you post reviews. This is horrible, I am so sorry this happened to you!

This is soooo not okay. She ruined your wedding and needs to compensate you for it. The first couple likely didn’t have any idea!
