Photographer isn’t responding and my wedding is in a week

Kayla, on June 1, 2019 at 10:55 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15
I am freaking out. I messaged my photographer and asked if she would a timeline of the wedding day or directions to get to the venue. She looked at it and didn’t respond (I can tell because it was through Facebook messaging). At first I was thinking that she was busy and didn’t have time but then I saw her posting memes and stuff on her Facebook page so she obviously has some free time. I am getting so worried because she is not responding. It’s making me think that she’s not coming to the wedding now and that’s why she’s not responding? I have no idea what to do. I am going to message her again today but I’m not sure what I should say. The contract i signed with her says if she is not able to provide services she will “issue and refund or credit based on a reasonably accurate percentage of services rendered”. Hopefully if she doesn’t come I will get my money back. I guess I need to think of a backup plan just in case.

There’s probably a more professional way to reach out than Facebook messenger. Call her.

Because I don’t have her number or email. That’s the only way we have been communicating.

It’s not on your contract? This seems like it’s been sketchy from the start.

I’ve looked and it isn’t. I didn’t know it was a thing for vendors to give out their phone numbers since none of the other ones have except like 1.

I’d email with her as that is admissible in court I don’t think messages are. I’d get everything in writing and get her email add and phone number today

It's not even on her Facebook page? Most vendors and businesses I've looked into have their number listed on there or even yelp/Google. I'd be doing some digging if I were you

How did you find her in the first place? A wedding site? Google? Word of mouth? Go back to the source and get her contact information. If it was just a FB ad, I’d go on her page and send a friendly message that you are a week away and can’t wait to have her shoot the wedding. Ask her to please contact you to go over the timeline. It’s hard to ignore a public comment.
How did you make a deposit to her? PayPal? Venmo? Personal check? All require her to provide contact info of some sort. Use that info to reach her.
In the end, never send money to anyone whom you haven’t had a vocal conversation with. You should have a verified phone number, Street address, and email before making a deposit. There need to be verified reviews from happy customers too.

Definitely find her phone number and call her. I don’t know how you found your vendors that you don’t have contact information, but I would look up other sources of contact for anyone you don’t have. I wouldn’t trust Facebook messenger. What if their is a random outage or message gets filtered to spam (happens to me on a regular basis)

Is her number on her website or Facebook? I can’t imagine she gets much business without her number being available.

Oh god. A week untill your wedding?? I would be freaking out. You would think by now she would have contacted YOU and gone over a time line, last minute ideas and details.
I feel like its super unprofessional that she read the message and didnt respond this close to your wedding.
You need her number. You should be talking to her on the phone, not through Facebook marketplace.
Try to find her number or message her again and say its a week untill my wedding. I do see you read my last message i would like to tall on the phone and go over last minute details.
If she does not reply, email again and say you have a binding contract and if she will not reply or contact you then you need to know now if she will not be able to attend and need your money and deposit back.

Thanks everybody for your advice. The way I found her was through word of mouth and her Facebook page and that’s how I got into contact with her. I dug for her number and couldn’t find it anywhere, it wasn’t even on her website nor was her email. I did however find her email through PayPal which is how I paid my invoice. I sent her and email and I will hopefully hear back soon!

If you don't hear back, Paypal can help. Contact them to find out your options for getting your deposit back.

I would suggest calling her. I would also just provide her directions and the schedule for the day so that your bases are covered. Sounds like you have been digging through her profile though and nothing has been turning up.

How did you make the payment? I would look into reaching out through or contesting payment through paypal or however you paid for services. Back up plan, buy a bunch of disposable cameras and give them out to your guests!

What an absolute nitemare. Hopefully it gets resolved and doesnt turn into a lesson learned situation.
