Photographer etiquette

Sarah, on October 7, 2019 at 9:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16
I found a photographer that I love! She's talented and tasteful and in my budget! Unfortunately she's already booked for the day of our wedding. I want to ask her if she knows any other good, affordable photographers in the area, but I'm worried that that would be rude.
Thoughts in this?

I don't see why that would be rude. You would have liked to hire her, but she is unavailable.

I don’t think that’s rude at all. She likely has friends in the industry that she would love to refer you to.

Not rude at all. Good photographers always know and will be willing to recommend other good photographers.

Agreed that this would be fine! Professionals in the wedding business often refer each other, that’s how we found our officiant. You could also ask any other vendors you’ve hired, your venue in particular, if they have a preferred/recommended vendor list. Many of them do!

That's not rude at all. I often offer recommendations for other vendors when I'm booked.

I dont think it's rude! Like others have said, they could have a network of other great photographers and it's not like you're taking the business away from her since she can't do it.

Totally not rude. I'd ask your venue dj florist etc too. I found my photographer from my venue. My dj from my florist. And since my wedding my florist and photog recommend each other. Never hesitate to ask.

Not rude at all! She is already booked for that day so it’s not like she is losing you as a client. I tried doing this with the photo booth but she was pretty rude about me asking. Which is obviously dumb, she was already booked so it’s bit like she was losing my money lol

I dont think that's rude at all. I did the same thing (but my original choices recommendation was out of my budget and I found an excellent photographer on my own). If she wasnt booked, you sound as though you would have hired her and she probably would have suggestions for people similar to herself.

    Good luck and happy planning!

I think that's a normal thing to ask since she is already booked!

I'd probably have wondered the same, just being careful. Totally get it. But yeah I agree with everyone, it's fine. We found our photographer through a professional connection she had. And another photographer we emailed (who ended up being booked) send us a couple recommendations without us even asking Smiley smile
