Photographer doubts

Andrea, on July 25, 2020 at 1:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Soooo I booked this photographer for my wedding but after some evaluation and a nagging gut feeling I think I want to switch to a different photographer. The one I booked is good but I don’t feel confident that they can achieve the overall look I’m envisioning. I’ve already paid the booked photographer about $800. The other photographer costs more but does an amazing job. Help!

Can you use this one for engagement shoot if it’s nonrefundable?

Actually I was thinking of using the new one for the engagement photos.

As long as you’re ok with forfeiting the deposit and paying the extra $ for the new photographer then I say go with your gut and your heart.

I think a wedding photographer is one of the most important investments you can make on your wedding day and you should pick someone you feel comfortable and confident with. You are going to be spending a ton of money on everything else, so spend the extra to have someone who you trust will be able to capture it all.

$800 isn't a huge deposit. If you feel yourself second guessing this photographer and have met with the other one and really jive with them, I would switch.

Someone else mentioned having the original photographer do your engagement photos. I recommend having your wedding photographer do those photos because it will help you get a feel of how you work with one another and you'll feel more comfortable being photographed on your wedding day. However there is nothing to say you can't do TWO engagement shoots (or a family session) if your original photographer is willing. That way you recoup some of the funds from your deposit but still get all of the benefit of working closely with the photographer you like best.
