So even though we've been told numerous times to stay away from Friend-dors, I accepted the offer of free photography from my boss for the wedding. By taking this out of the budget, I could have a scaled down wedding of my dreams.

Fast forward 18 months later, my boss is basically admitting to me he doesn't feel confident he can provide to me what I need, and would I consider looking for someone else. He didn't want to be responsible if they didn't turn out good and there isn't a do over.

I appreciate him being truthful about his capabilities but would have loved to know this way more than TWO MONTHS away from the wedding!

Now I'm scrambling and looking for a photographer that we can afford when our budget is already accounted for. And the better the cost, the worst their images look 😩😩🥰

Oh no.. I'm sorry to hear this! Try thumbtack.com or do you have any local wedding Facebook pages? On ours, there are SO many vendors advertising their services. Tell them what your budget is and what you're looking for and go from there. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that. It is unfortunate but perhaps it was for the best. I think you will be able to find someone; depending on where you are. Perhaps if you share what state you are in here, others may have specific suggestions or recommendations. Local FB groups and websites like Craigslist may be a way to see what's out there as well as to get the word out about the dire need for a photographer. Good luck, really hope you get someone!!

That's awful! so sorry this happened. I don't know what your budget is, but does George Street Photo and Video operate in your city? We got them on a great deal $2K for two photographers for 8 and 6 hours of coverage and a 10x10 photo book, among other small things. If not, like PPs have mentioned, see if anybody in wedding consignment groups can do photography.

we're actually also using 'friend-dors' for flowers and DJ, but we're not doing anything for free or if it's not in a contract.

Ask him would he be willing to pay for a photographer as his gift????? That's the least he can do or go half on it

I don’t know what your location is, but if you’re in the pa/md/va area, Amber Urey is very good and her prices are extremely reasonable. We hired her for our wedding in October and have loved seeing her work.

Awww so sorry . Try thumtack . look for engagement photos...then ask if they have wedding packages...we did this and got a great deal from a photographer that takes engagement photos and wants to build her portfolio.
We love her work and we got two shooters for all day for $1200...included our engagement shoot, my Bridal portrait and a print package.
Don't despair! It will work out.

Daughter only decided six weeks before her wedding that she was going to add a videographer. She had good luck on Thumbtack -- she was just really thorough about reading reviews and looking at the videos potential vendors posted. I'm so sorry!
NOT TO OP, but to those just starting their planning, this is why you'll hear that "friendors" aren't a good idea. No one expects their friends to let them down, but, unfortunately, it happens fairly often. Take this poster's warning to heart.

Just go to your local facebook wedding page and ask for local photographers. You may get a good deal since they would have not been working that weekend but now they have your wedding to photograph!

Yikes!!! Is it possible to do a test run with your boss and see how you feel about his work? Check Instagram. Sometimes you can search hashtags such as your city with photographer “#nycphotographer” or “#nycweddingphotographer I’ve seen people also suggest photography schools 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m not sure about that but it’s recommended often. And craigslist. I think I’m afraid of craigslist... but you have options! Something will workout!

I spoke with my boss and we are going to see if I can barter with someone who is really good but still needs a website. This way I can get what I need without paying out of pocket and he can adsorb the cost of the photography by offering services
