Photographer and Videographer: 2 separate companies or 1?

Kelsey, on October 31, 2019 at 6:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 19
Can anyone offer any advice about hiring a photographer and videographer from two different companies versus one company? I’m having a difficult time finding a photographer and videographer in one company that has the quality that I am interested in but I feel like this may be easier?

We are using one company. We will have at least 4 people, 2 photo and 2 video to capture all angles. I think this works well due to discounts and to make sure people work well together, but if it’s not something you can find, just ask the photo or video team you love who they recommend and have worked well with in the past.

We used a videographer and photographer from different companies. I knew what photographer I wanted before I got engaged since she did a friend of mine's wedding. Her husband and her own the company and they only do photography. My husband originally didn't want to hire a videographer, but I really wanted one so I ended up hiring a husband and wife team. They only do videography. Neither vendor had a problem working with the other. I will say if you hire a company that does both they often offer discounts for using both services.

We diy’d the Videography by ordering 2 📹 and had 2 guys of different heights record for us.

It was much easier, more cost affordable, and we have control of ALL of the footage, NOT just then finished 6-8 minute video that you’d normally get.

We're using one company for both. It's easier but if you use more than one company, just be sure to let the other one know so they know they'll be working with someone else. It'll give them a chance to get in touch with the other vendor and create a plan to work together seamlessly.

I’m using separate companies (and preferred it that way). I have a visual media background, so I wanted people that specialized in each.

I am using two different vendors. My photography did my sister’s wedding in May and I loved her. Before I went on the hunt for a videographer, I asked if she had any that she could recommend, or that she didn’t recommend. She told us she hadn’t worked with very many, and that she didn’t care who we picked.

I used two different companies and it was fine. I never even thought about it being easier or not, but instead my focus was more on quality and cost. I think as long as they have experience working weddings then they'll know how to work around each other since this is pretty common at weddings.

We used two different companies, but we hired the photographer first and asked him if he had any recommendations and selected one of his recommendations. Our photographer said that made it easier for him because they don't want to get in each other's way trying to capture your day and when they've worked together before it makes this a little smoother.
