I have heard of a lot of vendors tacking on additional fees for weddings into the new year or if you want to book another weekend date...as if this is your fault. So frustrating!

She explained that it helps her pay for her expenses including her mortgage during these times. But I am putting my life and family on the line for these unpredictable circumstances and I’m not expecting an additional pay. 750 is a lot of money and she does have an “act of god” clause in her contact but governor cuomo is expecting this to continue on. My hospital stateted that they are predicting an additional year of this.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. The only reason I can think of to add on more money is if they need you to pay the 2021 rates, but there is no way that it can be a $750 increase. And while no one is required to give healthcare workers any special treatment, I think it's more than well deserved. Thank you for everything you have been doing. Sincerely, a Jersey girl.

It is definitely hard when this is supposed to be an amazing year for me and my fiancé and now it’s full of heartache. We understand the struggle for everyone but my fiancé has a small business and isn’t tacking on additional costs. I thinks it just taking an advantage of the wedding expenses and the area in which you live.

I appreciate it so much! I am not looking for any so count but even if the quarantine is lifted. The hospital intends for covid cases for a year that we are working on. I work in a completely covid positive hospital and I feel postponing and isolating myself this year through all this will help keep my community and the world safe. I feel that this is just a disservice to absolutely anyone that reschedules.

Sorry to hear about all this. I would say look into your options but hiring someone else sounds more expensive. I know vendors have bills to pay too but taking extra for the same service (especially that much extra) is highway robbery.

I mean whether she is struggling or not, that isn't right for her to add an additional fee onto previous bookings. She should raise her rates for new clients. And from my experience, I have had both great vendors and downright dirty vendors when we had to cancel because of the pandemic. I hate to say this..but many left a bad taste in my mouth. It will be hard to give future vendors deposits whenever we do get the chance to book something again. I am sorry she is acting like this with you. No one deserves that type of treatment.

So I know everyone has bills to pay, but how is that your responsibility? Her mortgage and bills are her own responsibility and increasing the cost after an agreed price + a pandemic? That is upsetting. I would probably find somone else to work with, because I feel like that reflects poorly on her business. I would understand increasing the price maybe a $100, but $750? Nope.

That's crap and just bad business. I would ditch her and find someone else. There are so many photographers out there.

Depending on when you had to reschedule, vendors often change (I.e. increase their prices) year to year.

Oh that is so frustrating and one of the things I am worried about if we push our wedding/reception to next year. Many vendors increase their rates from year to year, but I feel like vendors should as much as possible try to accommodate couples being affected by Covid-19, especially if an event is changed because of government restrictions. Our wedding is May 30th and one of the reasons we have not made a final call yet is because we think vendors will be more accommodating if we have to cancel legally vs wanting to reschedule, and that we'll have more leverage if the vendors can't provide their contracted services vs making changes for personal/comfort reasons.

I think this is insane and that photographer should be ashamed. I can understand a small rescheduling fee if the contract has certain working, but the amount you said below is insane. You could probably hire a completely different person with that price. I would try and refuse and see what happens. Sorry you are dealing with this! Very sad when none of this is in anyone's control!
