Photobooth - what time?

THW1234, on July 6, 2011 at 11:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

I have a photobooth booked for 3 hours. My question is, when should I have the photobooth run? My reception is from 5:30-11:30. Below is a timeline:

5:30-6:30: Cocktail hour

6:30-8:00: Dinner

8:00-11:30: Dancing

I would ordinarily like to have the photobooth available during cocktail hour, however, my time will just be wasted during dinner. I'm thinking about having the booth from 8-11. Although alcohol will be served, our family friends are rather responsible. I don't anticipate any drunken trouble. Thoughts?

I would talk with your Photobooth company. Our's said that they setup before the ceremony but can't just sit around for hours until the photobooth is to start. So they would charge an extra fee to have it start at 8. Because they'd be sitting around from 4 until 8

My photobooth doesnt charge time to setup- however they wont wait around so im having it during cocktail hour and dinner hour and then for two hours during dancing. But i see your dinner is a lot longer...

Also, they setup about an hour before (depending on company). I dont know if you want them setting up during your dinner hour? You have to ask your company what they will do.

I am currently trying to make the same decision. I was also thinking that the time during dinner would be a waste, but we are having a buffet. I figure that people would finish eating at different times, and those that have finished could be using the photobooth, so maybe it is not a waste? I am interested to see what other people's thoughts on this are.

As a photographer I would say that the busiest hours for photo booths are right after dinner. People eat and then some people finish eating quick and begin to linger around while others are still taking their time, etc. Not to mention people have a couple more drinks in them by then and are more comfortable and having fun.

+1 to after dinner. I actually offer my photobooths for the entire course of the reception, so I've learned that it gets the busiest after dinner, when the drinks are served and the dancing begins. Be sure to have the DJ/band announce the booth a few times to motivate people, and I always encourage couples to ask a few of he bridal party members to get the photobooth rolling by pulling in unsure people. They'll soon love it and pull in more people! Smiley laugh
