Photobooth-How long?

Michelle, on September 11, 2017 at 12:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

So I know I want to have a photobooth at my wedding. I'm just not sure for how long, I'm torn between 2 and 3 hours. Anyone that had or will have a photobooth, how many hours did you go with?

Ours is 4 or 5 I think it's basically the whole reception.

It depends how long your reception is. Our reception went from 6:00-11:00. We had the photo booth for the entire time. Mostly because I didn't want people setting it up during dinner. Nobody really used it during dinner but dinner only lasted about an hour. The rest of the night it was packed.

I've got mine for the whole reception but that's because it's through my photographer and he's gotta stay Smiley smile

Our photo booth will be set up for 3 hrs. That was what our vendor recommended.

I had mine for 4 hours - the entire length of the reception. Guests were using it all night, and some were holding up the line taking tons of photos (lol). I would go for 4 hours if you can. You'll lose a bit of time while guests are eating dinner, and listening to speeches. Unless you have a small wedding (I had roughly 145).

Thank you all for your responses. My reception is kind of long, from 7PM to 1AM, that seems like a long time for a photobooth. I like the set up after dinner idea though, I hadn't thought of that.

Also, my guest count isn't too bad, about 115 and some of them are older and won't use the photobooth.

Ours is a backdrop that a friend and I are making. We are using command hooks to keep it up and having my parents nice Nikon camera set up with a timer. The camera will be set up to have the whole backdrop in frame so they won't have to worry about it.

    Two things:

-don't assume older people won't use the photo booth. They definitely did at our wedding!

-some of the best photos we got were from the very end of the night. If you can find room in the budget, don't shut down early!

@stpaulgal thank you for your response Smiley smile. I'm speaking from experience, all my guests are immediate family and friends and when we've had photobooths, my older family members don't use them. We also love to dance and again from experience, once the dancing starts the photobooth gets abandoned.

This was one of my thoughts this morning, thanks for posting Smiley winking We have our venue from 5pm-1am. I'm unsure how long we want to keep it since we have to pay per hour.

@thenextmrsj You're welcome Smiley smile! Yes, it's hard because you want everyone to be able to use it but at the same time what if you have it for too long and people stop using it, I'm a big planner and I like timelines. Maybe I'm overthinking it lol.

Ours was right next to the dance floor, and people were back and forth *all night.* The sillier and more amped up they got on the dance floor, the sillier the pics got from the photo booth.

@StPaulGal that's a good spot! My other issue is mine is in a completely different room across the courtyard next to the restrooms in a fixed location Smiley sad I think we'll have to have our DJ to remind guest that it's over there. It's gonna be kinda like "out of sight out of mind"
