Photobooth hourly rate?

Tiffany, on February 10, 2019 at 4:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
So we are planning to do a diy photobooth but stepped up. I have a nice dslr camera and we have access to a friend of our photographer who is just starting out whom we want to ask to man the photobooth. Just snapping people as they are in it instead of having a remote.
We would probably have it staffed for 2-4 hours with of course breaking for dinner (and being provided a meal) and such.
my question is: what would be a fair rate to pay her? I was thinking $50/hr?
is this unreasonable? She isn’t a professional at all so that’s why it’s lower, but I also want her to be fairly compensated.
Thoughts?

I feel at the rate at $50/hour for 2-4 hours that is pretty fair, I mean making $100 or $200 for the night plus whatever you tip them maybe another $25 or $50. I would definitely write them a good review/reference or recommend them to others. Maybe they can even use some of the photos in their photo portfolio.

I feel like 50/hour to take pictures for a photobooth is fair because that’s the rate in my area

how much is it in your area?

Not too sure if it's okay? I think it's a little low. maybe between $80-$100 an hour? if she's starting then as a friend I would want to support her into getting better equipment for her work. I'm paying my photographer $450 an hour.. yes it's ridiculous, but she gave me the lowest rate I could find and I'm only having her for two hours in my three and a half hour long wedding reception.

She isn’t a friend of mine, she’s the photographers friend. I’m only paying my photographer 950 for the whole day. But she gets free lodging at our venue.
