One thing every couple wants are phenomenal photos of their big day. I dabble in photography as a hobby and wanted to share some tips for those candid photos people will be snapping.
1. When you’re announced as husband and wife... I know you’ll be so excited to grace that aisle as a married couple, but try to pause to allow for a good shot.
2. Hold the kiss for a second longer.
3. Remember to smile. This is so easy to forget sometimes. Sounds like the simplest thing to remember but how many times have you said “I like this picture but just wish I was smiling”.
4. Be mindful of your backgrounds! Do not take the photo with grandma in front of the women’s bathroom door sign. Sometimes all it needs to go from a crappy shot (no pun intended) to a great one is to move a foot to the side. Or turn just a bit.
5. My biggest challenge is knowing how to pose people for a good shot. I love doing candid photography. Go through Pinterest and find the poses and group photos you absolutely want and share them with your photographer. If you’re not having a photographer, designate a friend or family member who is good with the camera to be in charge of this.
6. Practice your poses and smiles. We all have that one pose that makes us look... funny. Lol. Practice so you know what to do when taking pictures.
7. Find a good photo editing program so that you can take a normal photo that Uncle John took and make it look like a photographer took it. There are some free ones that do a good job. Google Photos is a great free program.
At the end end of your big day... rest assured that even if your photos don’t come out the way you had hoped, you have the memories and that is far more important than a photo.
