Photo on invitations

Heyyy, i’m thinking about using an engagement photo on our invitation. I know normally it’s on the save the dates, however I purchased my save the dates early on (thinking we are skipping engagement pics) and we take engagement pictures next month. My photographer is throwing in a add on to our package so we’re getting an engagement shoot on the house! What’s your thoughts on this idea of a pic on the invitations? Anyone else doing this or similar? Let me know! Smiley smile

    I think it’s becoming more common. There are tons of templates on popular sites like Minted and Vistaprint that include photos.

    I think a picture on the invite conveys a more casual feel. Totally fine if that’s what you’re going for! But if your wedding is semi formal or formal I wouldn’t do a picture.

    I found some 2 sided ones on zazzle that I'm using for inspiration. One side will have our photo, the other will have the info.

    If your wedding is a formal one, in style, in clothing, in meal service, a photo on the invitation is out of place. If you are having something informal and letting people know dress casually, then a pic on the invitation is a casual and okay thing.

    As others have already said, it totally depends on the formality of your event. Pictures give off a more casual vibe so if that’s what you’re going for, a picture on the invites is fine.

    I went to a wedding a few weeks ago, and the couple had an engagement picture on the backside of their invitation! I assumed it was a pretty casual wedding based on the invitation (it kind of was) so if you're going for a more casual feel to your wedding, it's a great option.

    I say go for it! I wasn't planning on it until we got our engagement photos back... but I love them so much I think we will have to use them on the invites!

    If you are having a very casual wedding, it is fine! However, if your wedding is formal, that might not fit the occasion as well.

    I think that's fine! It's not traditional but we have received 2 or 3 invites with pictures of the couple on them! I think it sends a more casual message too.
