Photo booth or no photo booth?

EGD, on March 6, 2021 at 2:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
Looking for any and all pros, cons, regrets, wishes in regards to a photo booth.

We found a photo booth thats $800 for 3 hours with an attendant. We’d get digital copies of all photos taken as well as guests get the print out.
But I’m on the fence about it, thinking that there’s really no good place in the venue and wondering if it’s worth it?
I’ve only been to two weddings, both with photo booths and they were all used by guests and guests seemed to have a fun time with it so I’m not sure.

As a guest, I always enjoy it. If your venue isn’t suited for it do without though.

I’m having one. I think it’s a great way to get cute goofy pics that aren’t staged. Just your guests enjoying themselves.

It’s a cute idea, but we decided against it and went with the extra hour for our photographer instead

As a guest, I always use the photobooth and enjoy getting the print out for memories. But it doesn't really fit with our venue/vision so we decided against it.

We had one for our wedding and our guests loved it. Every single person at our wedding used the photo booth. It gave people who didn't want to dance or wanted to take a break from dancing something to do. As a guest, I also really like photo booths. I think it is fun to take silly photos to remember the fun from that day. If you aren't sure where in the venue to have the photo booth, I would ask where other weddings have had their photo booth.

I've loved using them at parties. We are having one and I'm excited to see all the memories created with it.

We're not doing one. I don't understand the point of spending all that money when every guest already has a camera in their pocket.

I always enjoy it! I had one at my wedding but I will say maybe you can look for more quotes ? Maybe if you found a cheaper one you’d be more inclined towards yes

I'm also debating on having one.

I think I will if I can find a dj that offers a photobooth package as well.

Thank you all for your feedback!

I think I’ll go with the photo booth!
The quote from the DJ was pretty standard so I don’t think we’d find a better quote!

I agree with this. Plus having a pro photographer you've hired for the day.

We've been to weddings with them, but found they tend to be off away from the party, and can disrupt the flow/distract guests from dances/food.

Our venue had a great view, so we skipped it.

I think it’s a cute idea for guests but we’re personally not using it. Just trying to save money in that aspect for something else. But if you have the money, and it does work in your venue space, then I think it’s worth it!

My husband and I were going to add a photobooth if we had room in the budget for it, turns out we didn't, so we had no photobooth. It was still a lot of fun nonetheless.

Why not purchase a polaroid camera and have guests take photos of themselves that way? Put some props next to it and you're good to go. I've been to two weddings where they've done that. One of them had it next to the guest book so the guests can take a photo and paste it in next to their congratulatory message. I thought that was a great idea.
