Photo Booth or No Photo Booth: That is the Question

Hey Brides!

I need some input on whether or not I should book a photo booth for my wedding. For those who are already married: did you or didn't you have a photo booth at your reception? Do you regret it one way or the other? Do you think your guests would have been bored without it?

Here is my situation: I want a photo booth at my reception but I don't NEED it. My fiancé is letting me make the choice, he says he doesn't want me to regret not having one later on. The photo booth we are considering is $800 for the whole reception (5 hours) and comes with prints, a personalized logo, a flash drive of all images, as well as an online hosted gallery for the guests to view. Other photo booths in the area cost about the same, if not more.

The only problem is, my fiancé and I are paying for everything ourselves with minimal help from our parents, so that $800 for a photo booth that we don't NEED could definitely be used elsewhere. Is it worth the splurge?

We are having a vintage wedding ( 1910s-1930s inspired, think Gatsby, Downton Abbey yada yada yada) We are doing the old school version of the photobooth and having a photographer and a paper moon that guests get pictures on. Frankly, I am not a fan, nor have I ever been a fan of photobooths...I think there are better thing to spend $800 on.

As a guest, I've always enjoyed photo booths. They work as entertainment, wedding favors, and guest book, all in one. Also, photo strips are the only wedding favors that I have ever kept, remembered, or cherished. I know that people complain that everyone's doing them, but not every wedding needs to be a special snowflake. Sometimes something is popular because people enjoy it.

I would say watch Groupon, AmazonLocal, and LivingSocial, or attempt to hammer out a better deal if you or FH are a good negotiator. Have you considered a shorter time frame? Guests shouldn't be in the photo booth during dinner, special dances, cake cutting, etc.

FH wants one, but it doesn't look like its in the budget any more. He wants to get disposable cameras for the tables, but I think that doesn't make sense. Everyone has smart phones these days. I think we can set up a hashtag or something. I would like to at least set up some funny props somewhere for pics. I think this is one of those items I will worry about closer to the day. At $84 a head it may just depend on how many RSVPs are no.

We'll have one and it was something that FH really wanted. We're only paying around $350 for ours since we're booking it from the same company that provides our DJ and video. All guests get an unlimited number of prints, and at the end of the night we get a book with a copy of all the prints in it, as well as a flash drive to print any or upload online.

ETA since we are having a photo booth we decided to skip traditional favors. We figured that we would use the photo booth pictures in lieu of costly favors that would most likely be forgotten.

We have one. The venue has their own, and they included it in our package for a good price. I think it will be a lot of fun for the guests and a little something extra to take home as a momento.

We had one and our guests loved it! Two copies were printed out and the guest got to keep one and one went into a photo album. I definitely recommend it!

We aren't doing one. We would have to give up dancing space at our venue in order to have one (and I'm just not sacrificing that!), so it just isn't worth it to me. It is kind of a good thing, because there are other things I really need to put the money towards, even though I think photobooths have been fun at other weddings I have been too. That being said, I don't think we will miss it.

It's 2017 and this is something that's still a concern for a lot of people. The good thing is there are a lot of options for photo booth styles & styles. And all these photo booths do so many crazy things. It's not like the same old get into a 2 seater booth and smile. You can do funny animations with your friends

    like this or or do

360 photo booths! . There's a lot of options you can keep your eye for and if you are DIY you can use an iPad photo booth app and creating your own
