Photo booth? Candy bar?

Robin , on February 7, 2017 at 11:14 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

I want my wedding reception to be fun and not boring like some weddings I've been to. What are some budget friendly suggestions???

What did you feel was missing at the "boring" weddings you attended?

As a guest all I need is free alcohol, a great DJ, and delicious food and I know I'm going to have a great time.

Give me alcohol, food, and music and I'm good all damn night.

What more are you looking for?

    It's a wedding, not a birthday party.

Photo booths can be fun but most of the time alcohol and music is plenty.

Photo booths can be fun. You can even create your own backdrop for people to use for photos if you don't want to rent a booth. Maybe you and your FH have a shared interest that you can add to the reception to make it more exciting?

We're having a photo booth. We decide against the candy bar since there are a lot of kids in our families and they're probably raid the candy table.

Honestly, I feel like the guest list is the most important aspect to having a fun-filled reception. It's best to have people there who know each other. So either have a small affair with your nearest and dearest, or focus on inviting either a lot of family or a lot of friends. I hate to be at a wedding where I only know the couple...

Rather than spend money on extras you would be better off focusing your funds towards and excellent DJ, caterer and alcohol. Generally speaking when those areas are lacking is when a wedding becomes boring. If you really want an extra a Photo Booth is fun but definitely not needed to have a fun wedding.

Some people ask for their DJ/MC to make things more interactive (like dance offs between boys/girls or that shoe game) I know what you mean about going to boring weddings. I loved a photo booth at one I went to so that's a great idea

I agree with pretty much everyone else that the DJ is super important. For our wedding we are having a few extra things like giant jenga and corn hole since it fits in well with our theme and because both our families and friends like doing stuff like that. We already have a corn hole set and we are just cutting, sanding and possibly painting/staining 2x4s cut to the right length for jenga so it's hardly costing us anything, and if nothing else it will keep the kids busy!!!! We have a porch at our location so it won't disrupt anyone inside visiting or dancing and I'm sure it will mostly only be used during the cocktail hour. Once we get going we will be relying on the DJ more.

I think a photo booth and candy bar can both be fun, but a cool thing with a photo booth is you get to keep all the photos after!
