Do you think it's necessary to have one?

No. I feel the same way about guest book attendants. People can figure out what to do!

Yes, they keep the booth running, keep it organized and clean it up at the end of the night.

Sorry to hijack really quick here! What about those DIY "booths", and by "booths" I mean more like a photo station with a camera and tripod set up and props and a backdrop. Would an attendant be better for something like that?

Yes absolutely. I've been to both kinds of weddings and it's definitely smoother with an attendant

If your doing a booth, whether it's DIY or not please have someone there. I've been to a wedding with a DIY booth with no one there and you see kids playing with everything, no one cares enough to clean up their props after use and the older generation couldn't get the hang of it. People started using their cell phones.... It was really sad

An attendant comes with our photo booth...I would just question that if something malfunctions they should be available to fix it...

I think so, especially if you are having a book of all your guests photos. They will assure that you get a photo, and will place it in your album. I have seen some photo booths at weddings where there is no attendant, and the guests take all the photo strips, leaving none for the couple. They can also help if something goes wrong as well.

The best photo booths I have seen have had an attendant. It keeps it running and stops people from spending a ton of time in there.

A friend had a DIY booth and she literally had people taking 30 pics each so the line never moved. It was pretty annoying when we were in line. She had 8 bridesmaids who spent a significant amount of time there and they insisted they could because they were part of the wedding.
