Petticoats

Miya, on October 14, 2020 at 4:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 4

Hello,

Has anyone had their petticoat removed? I just received my dress and asked for a petticoat in it, but it is too poofy for my taste. Has anyone else had theirs removed? I know I want it removed, but is it a difficult process/costly? Thanks!

Alterations may be able to remove some layers of the petticoat to make it less poofy but still give the volume you thought you wanted

Hi Miya! I think this is fairly common! They may warn you that removing volume can change the shape of the dress, but that's the point! Smiley shame

I worked in bridal for three years, and this was the most common alteration we did. It’s super simple and shouldn’t be very expensive. Typically there are 3 to 5 layers of crinoline, and we usually recommended leaving at least one to preserve the overall shape of the dress, but drastically decrease the poofiness. Hope that helps!
