Petticoat

Lene, on October 15, 2019 at 5:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hi ladies! I have a petticoat for my mermaid gown that buttons in at the bottom and can be easily removed. I am probably going to spend most of the night on the dancefloor and don't know if I should remove because it will get in the way or does it not make big difference? Thoughts?

If you are thinking of taking it off for the reception, you should probably try walking around with the dress without the petticoat. In some instances, the petticoat shortens the dress a little by puffing it out, and you'll end up tripping over the dress without the petticoat.

The petticoat also keeps the dress from collapsing between your legs which would be helpful on the dance floor.

Yeah I was told by my seamstress that you either wear one or dont because changes the hem length. I'm sure there are exceptions based on the style of dress and poofiness of your slip.

Hey Lene! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!!

If you are wearing your petticoat for your wedding ceremony, I would suggest staying in it for the remainder of your day. As the pps mentioned, it can alter the length of your dress and you definitely don’t want to be tripping over your dress while dancing!

What is the rest of your dress like?

I am planning on keeping mine on, but if you choose to take it off, try walking around a moving around a bit without it before the wedding to see if it slips between your legs or makes it too long etc.
