Petticoat Slip with a slim A-line?

Private_User804, on March 9, 2016 at 2:32 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Is anybody wearing a slim A-line or drop-waist A-line and wearing a petticoat underneath? What does your dress look like with and without it?

Mine was an A-line. The first is without the crinoline, and the second is with it. I liked it with the crinoline better. The crinoline kind of made it look like the greater volume below the waist was a fashion statement, as opposed to my belly.

I'm thinking about wearing one with the Viera. I don't have a photo of it. But I did try it on at the store. I liked it (I think better than without) because it held the shape i loved even when I moved.

Because I didn't want it too full she didn't put me in an a-line petticoat, she put me in a mermaid petticoat just to have a little poof on the bottom.

Omg, Jersey Jen that is EXACTLY what I'm thinking of using it for. I realized the reason I'm hesitating on the Viera is that it hangs in such heavy folds, and my other favorites have more of a flat front that feels more 'bridal' to me. I've seen a few candids of curvier girls wearing it during the wedding/first dance, where the skirt just.....droops, and it looks not-great. I wish it had a heavier underskirt like the Emma!

Yes, I have the exact same concern. I'm heavily leaning towards using one Smiley smile. The charmeuse feels so nice but when it loses its shape, I hate it. So I'll most likely be wearing one Smiley smile. It gave it the perfect shape when I tried it on!!

I was always against them until I tried mine on. To me it makes my waist look smaller and changes the look and feel of the dress.

Here's mine with (left) and without (right). The underskirt on mine is actually somewhat narrow, so at first when I bought a petticoat it wouldn't fit. Luckily I realized I could resize the hoop. In the end, I realized I could also remove the hoop without causing damage, so I did that-- it was annoying to hit my feet on it, and just the crinoline gave a similar effect with less hassle.

The petticoat I got was only $15 on Amazon with free returns (http://amzn.com/B010RXZ2FM) so I figured it was worth it just to try! I am keeping it.

Jen - now we're weekend, dress AND petticoat twins. eeeeeerie..... Smiley winking

Thanks Holly and 2d Bride for sharing, that's super helpful! Good to know hoops can be altered too - I'll definitely experiment a little.

Cathy, you should try a mermaid or slanted petticoat with it, to flare out just the bottom. Once yours comes in in your size, the salon should have at least half a dozen different petticoats you can try it on with - but you should pick one BEFORE taking it for alterations.
