Petticoat for Mermaid dress

I ordered my dress and now I have no idea if I should have ordered a petticoat. I have received the dress yet to see how it looks without it, but anyone use one with a mermaid....attcached is a pic of the dres

    Im just wearing SPANX under mine. I think petticoats are best for ballgowns IMO

    I am just wondering if the ruffles will look flat without it....hmmm I guess I will have to wait until I get the dress.

    Your dress shouldn't look flat as long as you steam the ruffles out. You can get what's called a mermaid petticoat if you want to make it fuller on the bottom. Beautiful gown by the way!

    I don't think the dress needs one personally. It looks as though the volume of the dress isn't coming from one but from the ruffles themselves.
